Thikho's skin is so dry.he is most irritable at night when he needs to be asleep. He wakes up scratching his little tummy. i have stopped all baby products on him and am using the hypo allergenic aqueous cream and pear soap. Even his clothes, i wash with hypo allergenic detergent and softner. Its been two months of trial and error. Any ideas??? its so frustrating to see my little man so uncomfortable.

I have had the same problem with dry, itchy skin and have tried everything. I have started using CapriClear. It's a spray on moisturizer which is great for kids too. Here is their website info, let me know if you like it and works for you.

To avoid problems with chemicals, you can wash your loundry with ceramic washing balls (type that title on google and you'll find thousands of references...). The idea might sound strange but I'm washing my loundry with that only since 4 monts and the results are great. As for you're baby's skin, in your country, find pure grade coconut oil or karite butter. All natural, no chemicals and it nourishes the skin. You can add 1 (and only...) drop of lavender essential oil (but only if the skin doesn't have any scarring) to help sooth the itchiness. Hopes it helps.

I work at a dermatology center and we have a list of products that we give our patients. First change all products. Use the following: Cheer free and gentle powder is the key for your laundry. If you can't find free and gentle use regular Cheer but be sure it's powder. Never use dryer sheets and only use fabric softener if really necessary. Use Dove for sensitive skin to wash with. Try using Cetaphil or Cerave cream. Do not use lotion use creams. If it keeps up try taking him to a dermatologist. This is a common problem with children and there are many prescription creams and ointments available.

@ Crystal - i've used vaseline. the paed says its not good as it does not allow the skin to breathe. my mom and grandma swear by it - vaseline for everything :-)
@ Lizelle - i've used the normal aqueous cream. i suppose i did not give it enough time. it was a week and i was at the paed's room at my wits end.

thank you ladies for the response. has anyone ever used Epimax?

Try using regular vaseline on him before bed.
