My 3 year old was just diagnosed with Eczema,

And I had no Idea that it had so much to deal with my daily routine.

I was just curious what can I do about her white clothes that would require for Bleach attention...

I would think that Bleach would be too strong for her....

Personally, I found hydrocortisone and steroid creams dont really work and if so they stop after a couple weeks and could end up causing more problems ! Too much can cause they're skin to thin, supersensitivity and more ! Seems to me the more natural you get, the better it works !p.s stay away from ALL fabric softeners !

Talk to your pediatrician about the hydrocortisone first. There are concerns of tumors and stunted growth if used too often. Just make sure you're informed and you know how much is too much.

I would not use bleach.

1. bath her not very frequently and make sure the water is not too hot.

2. on the same note reduce the amount of water that comes into contact with her skin, whether washing hands or whatever.

3. Eucerin Lotion every day.

4. Hydrocortizone cream as often as possible. (We go through a tube every couple of weeks.)

Should clear right up no bleach required.

My sons and I both have very severe excema. First off with the bleach thing, i was told to add a capdul once a week to their baths (personally i'm scared to, so i havent ) and it supposedly works great. So im thinking that bleaching her whites wont hurt. Baths every couple of days, always add oatmeal to the baths and a non fragranced bath soap (aveeno) that also has oatmeal. If her skin isnt sensitive to tree oil that works great too! The best thing for nights is a thicker ointment type...my miracly cure is BAGBALM  its actually an ointment for cow utters, if it's not severe ...put it on one night and by morning your babe will have the most beautiful skin...severe ezcema if you do it for a week and give the babe benadryl (fr the itch) it will be gone and if not change dramatically. If their a hot sleeper buy Bamboo sheets, it allows the skin to breathe and wicks away perspiration. They are a lkittle expensive but will POSITIVELY make a difference. If you have a waterproof matresspad you need to put an extra layer of cotton on top and between the sheets. If you dont have mattressw pad buy one!

i too was scared of bleach when our derm doc recommended it

google it- there is literature to support a diluted amount can be useful (like a swimming pool) we also went to a hydrocortisone mixed with vaseline and titrate the steroid amount depending on the level of break out- this was after we went through changing sleepwear, linen, detergent, rotating food products, bath products, many over the counter lotions (including aveeno, eucirin, renew, etc) - every kid is different

My son's eczema was actually irritated by Aveeno lotions which caused him to lose sleep. His Dr. suggested just Hylira lotion and vaseline. Also she said to use olive oil on his skin before placing him in a bath...never has anyone suggested bleach. That scares me......

I'm a big fan of Aveeno Soothing Relief Moisturizing cream. It worked better than even the $140 cream my pediatrician had prescribed. My son's eczema (although always very mild) is completely gone now. I use it to moisturize his legs (which is where he has it) three times a day.

My son is 9 and he has had exzema since he was 1. It is a difficult thing but not for us but for our children. My son has been on several steriod creams and orals. I still wash his clothes with everyone I have not changed that but if you child has not has an allergy test please get one ASAP because we did not know our child was allergic to peanuts and it was contributing to his flare ups also make sure that they also skin test for household products, also watch foods with a lot of additives and preservitives. A changes in weather also heightens flare ups, keep your baby as cool as possible and rub your child down as many times as you can with Vaseline. A cool body keeps their skin from getting irritated. Morturize!!!!! Oh yeah he is still under dermatologist care.

I have four girls who all had eczema as babies but grew out of it.  I used eucerin lotion and hydrocortizone mixed together.  It worked like magic but u have to use it everyday.  I washed their clothes in bleach but rinsed twice.  Once their out of the inching stage you may have to used cocoa butter for any left over marks.

I can help. I took my son to the doctor last week and he was diagnosed with Eczema. The doctor prescribed him a cream called Desoximetasone and told me to add baby lotion on top of it. It has worked great!

I found putting a hot water bottle with cold water into the childs bed 30min before they hop in helps with the itching at night.

Oh wow, to be so little and have it. Mine set in as a teen and the only thing I've ever found to help (and not for the little ones I'm sure) is kenalog shots. If they don't outgrow it might be of help later down the road.

Have you tried Eucerin creme and hydrocortizone creme? Both my girls have senstive skin and this works great. I often mix them together in another dish. We get it on their faces every night and whole body after baths, this helps them from itching too. Of course they don't really like to stand still while I put it on, sometimes I can get them to help and sometimes not!

All these suggests are great but another one would be oatmeal baths for the itching as well as Tea Tree Oil so long as it is completely natural and your child isn't too sensitive to it.  I use a hand and body lotion on my girls from the wellness company however found it too sticky for myself.  So long as the girls use it nightly I have been able to control their outbreaks much better.  I stopped using stuff prescribed from the dermatologist as it is mostly chemical ladden.  In the summer use a 60 proof sunscreen but allow child to be exposed to sun as this will help with the outbreaks as well.

My son has Eczema and Psoriasis so I use oxiclean instead of bleach, it works just as well. I also don't let him stay in the shower too long and try not to use to much hot of water in the tub. Eucerin cream or aveno work pretty well too. Lots of lotion all the time and stay on top of it, she should be fine. If the rash gets too bad you can use a cold compress or a bag of frozen peas!!

Quoting Carei:

My 19 month old also has eczema and we were referred to a dermatologist.  The best thing they told me and I couldn't believe it was to bathe her once a week in bleach and smear her down with the cetaphil cream nightly.  I also bathe her everynight with the cetaphil lotion.  But the bleach has made the biggest difference.  She sat in the bleach water and I kinda splashed it onto her upper body.  She has or had! a couple of patches on her face.  I dipped a washcloth in the bathwater and dabbed the spots she had and they are pretty much nonexistent now.

Aren't you afraid that the chemicals in the bleach will eventually harm her. I can show youproducts that are chemical free. That will help your daughter with her Eczema. 100% Guarenteed
