My son has had flu three times in a period of six months. Is this normal or is his immune system compromised. He first had a flu when he was seven months old, and again at 9 months, now he has it at 1 yr.

Yes. I suggest u get some vitamins and orange juice or orange fruit to help give his immune system a boost.Good luck!

The flu pandemic we are in right now is proposed to have 3 "waves". According on where you live, you could be in the 2nd wave right now (we are). This all depends on when your "normal" flu season is. But, that would mean that he caught seasonal flu once and H1N1 twice (both waves). There is still one more wave to come in the winter, so my recommendation is to get him vaccinated. You have to be 6 months old, so he'll be ok. Children who are 5 years old and younger are in a "high risk" category. Meaning, they are more prone to contracting the virus. The good thing is that even though he has had it 3 times, he is getting rid of it. If he seems to be keeping the flu and not getting over it (keeping flu-like symptoms), just keep an eye out for him. Try to keep him home as much as possible. Make sure he stays hydrated and gets plenty of rest. And, if he starts having difficulty breathing, take him to a doctor. Hope this helps.
