My 14 month old has been eating mainly table food for the past few months and seems to be doing really well with meats and cheese but he has no desire to eat any kind of steamed veggies. He will eat cut up banana and applesauce but that's the extent of fruits too. When he was eating baby food he would eat any fruits or veggies I gave him but absolutely refuses to try them as finger foods, any suggestions?

Blend your fruit into smoothies. And remember that they are discovering they can decide what they will and won't eat, and they pass through that stage and move onto the next.

Check out this cookbook - Deceptively Delicious. It uses pureed veggies in different recipes so your kids don't know they are eating them. Its great!

Try putting melted cheese on the steamed veggies. Dip the fruit in yogurt. Mix the veggies with ground meat in a meatloaf. I'll add more suggestions as they come to me. :)

My daughter will only eat apples if they are cut up like french fries. Veggies, she hated until I put garlic/ or garlic salt on them. She even will eat lima beans with a little garlic salt on them. LOL So try that!!!!!

Also my daughter loves the gerber stuffed raviolli. Her favorite is Carrot and chicken stuffed. No sauce. Just heat and serve. She loves those.

Also found that my daughter loves cottage cheese which is very good for her.

Any othere questions or tips. Just ask. I will try to help.

Try adding cheese to the veggies and mixing fruit with the meat. Good luck!

I tend to feed my children baby food longer than most just because of these type of situations occurring. Have you tried giving him the baby food? My youngest daughter had a difficult time transitioning over to regular fruits as I think that she did not like the texture/feel of them, so I just gave her the baby food fruits until she was ready.
