I just joined and I'm wondering if anyone has any tips for time-management. I go to work at 9pm and I get home around 6:30. I work over 40 hours a week. My son is very busy and always going. I need to have time to spend with him, get my housework and groceries, etc., and sleep. Please Help!!

I work 10pm to 6am with a 45 minute commute to work each way so I know what you are saying. It is not easy and I get frustrated that I can't seem to get things done. I have found though that if I don't get at least 6 hours sleep each day that I have trouble driving (have had a few near misses on the road with my car). I do have some one who comes in every 2 weeks to clean my house - bathrooms, toilets dusting and floors. It is nice to not have to try to fit that in on the weekends. I don't like working this shift and am currently looking at getting a job that is a day job. I hate that I only ever get to sleep in the same bed as my partner twice a week. Sleeping with the dog just isn't the same.

Boy, you sound busy! Can you afford a house cleaner to come in when you are at work? It may seem like a luxury at first, but isn't it worth it if you get to spend more quality time with your son instead of cleaning during the few hours you are home? Good luck!

i just joined as well & i'm not really sure how to use this site just yet...but if your a 3rd shift worker I hope you can help me as my shift makes my husband MISERABLE!! ....i have an 11yr boy & 2 yr. girl ... I just cut my hrs from 40 to 32 ...i'm a CNA ...i work from 10p - 6a ...then i come home & drive my husband 40 mins to work (as we are down to 1 vehicle) then take my son to school...my daughter is enrolled in early intervention so she has 1 group or therapy session a day, so we have that...i clean house/laundry/ & hopefully at least nap for an hour as my daughter doesn't sleep in the afternoons much i get my son from school then hit the road for a nother trip to pick up my husband (45 mins up - 45 mins back)...eat supper & hopefully nap from 7p-9:15p then most nights do the same thing!! can anyone relate to this type of life & when i don't get any support or understanding from my husband - i just don't know what else to do to bring the $$ we need into the house?! any advise would be great!!!
