Well im from Austrlia and i am not getting the shot and my son and hubby arent either.
Im 9week pregnant and refuse to get it.
Plus it is summer here so the threat of getting it is very rare since i havent heard a case of it where i am for many months now.
I dont trust a vaccine that was rushed through the system also. It may work but i guess im lucky to have summer approching and not the winter period.

If you do decide to get this vaccine you can ask for it without thimerosal.

For anyone who's interested, here's a link to the actual CDC page on the H1N1 vaccine: http://www.cdc.gov/h1n1flu/vaccination/p... As Samantha mentions above, the real story is a little different from the (at best) hearsay on the "global research" page.

The tiny amount of mercury in the tiny amount of thimerosal that any one dose of a vaccine would contain is much, much less than the amount in, say, a tin of white tuna or the mercury amalgam fillings in your teeth.

Thankfully my son is only 3 months so I don't yet have to deal with telling his doctor that he will NOT be getting the vaccine...

the website link above takes me to an unreliable source for the vaccine, not only is it an opinion piece but it also has grammatical errors. if you go to the CDC website you will see that they actually recommend the vaccine and have about 5 websites that are credible and reliable. please check out the CDC website so you can better educate yourself

i would rather have me and my child vaccinated and have it possibly not work than not have her get it at all. its also been stated that this flu, unlike the regular flu, has been causing the most death to perfectly healthy people. as well as specifically being the most harmful to babies and pregnant women. just my two cents.

"The Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) has officially stated that there will be as many as 30,000 serious, potentially lethal adverse reactions to the novel H1N1 vaccine, while the FDA guidelines for the novel H1N1 vaccine only require that it work in 3 out of every 10 recipients."

In case the link doesn't work, this is the long and short of it. It's ineffective in an average of 7 out of 10 people and 10% of the people vaccinated will have serious side effects.

Quoting Samantha:

this is ridiculous, people i get your concerns but they are false. i took my husband in to get his flu shot today and he told me that he didn't want it because he didn't want it to give him the flu. i told him that it is completely false and their is no way you can get the flu from the shot, our doctor has confirmed this. the H1N1 vaccine has been tested and has even been approved for use. if it wasn't approved then the navy would not be giving it out us sailors(trust me, they do not want us sick cuz then they lose out on manning and they have been pushing to get the vaccine). stop pretending that you guys know what your talking about and get your kids vaccinated. whatever the amount of mercury or whatever you guys say is in these shots it is obviously not enough to harm you baby. this flu has killed babies and pregnant women and the vaccine has not harmed anyone. you guys are either being lazy or misinformed. i hate to sound angry but i really feel strongly that there is a large amount of woman who are listening to wife's tales about this. you might as well let your newborn sleep on their tummy's and feed them kayro syrup for their upset stomachs, after all its what your mom would have done to you 20 years ago, oh and don't forget that children don't need to wear seat belts or child restraints:/ i don't think that any of you are bad or anything i just think you need get better more reliable sources.

FROM THE CDC: http://www.globalresearch.ca/index.php?c...   (is that a reliable enough source for you???)

Injecting a toxic amount of mercury into your child is ridiculous. Vaccines have been linked to so many things that harm children. I believe SOME vaccines are necessary but this one is not. I know several people who have gotten the swine flu and it is no worse than the regular flu unless you are already ill or have a chronic condition, especially in the lungs. For regular, healthy people this vaccine is not necessary. Maybe you should do some research and stop going along with the hype that everyone is spouting. They said the vaccine they used in 1976 was safe, too, and look what happened then.

I think before you get any vaccination you should compare the side effects of the vaccine to those of the disease it prevents. In this case it seems it's not worth the risk for MY children (or those of many doctors!).

I still think that basic preventative measures like washing your hands, eating right, and exercising are much more effective than this vaccine.

I will NOT get the shot for myself or for my 7 year old son. I do not believe that I should knowingly put a virus in his body. Plus, the CDC has not reccommended this shot nor do they know the saftey and effectiveness of this shot. That makes me definatly not want to get the shot. Plus, it is just another version of the regular flu shot. It is made basically the same way, just a little different. And if you do research, there are medals and mercury in the shot. There is no way that I will put that in my own body let alone my son's. I hope this helps. Best of luck!!

Let's keep in mind that the seasonal flu vaccine targets 3 strains of influenza, whereas the H1N1 targets one specific flu, making it highly effective towards that virus.

My little ones are vaccinated after much thought, discussion and research. Vaccine - low risk. H1N1 - high risk...

Do flu shots work?

Not in babies: In a review of more than 51 studies involving more than 294,000 children it was found there was "no evidence that injecting children 6-24 months of age with a flu shotwas any more effective than placebo. In children over 2 yrs, it was only effective 33% of the time in preventing the flu.

This is a hot topic but check out this link: http://drtenpenny.com/swine_flu_hype.asp...

Also might be interested to know that the makers of the vaccine are not getting the shot.
