My little man is a cat napper throughout the day. Sleeps anywhere from 10 minutes to sometimes 2 hours (on a rare day). I put him down when I know that he is tired in his crib and he just wont fall asleep. Im finding that if I can get him to sleep its in his swing, when Im walking or during a car ride. I of course know that this isnt good and would just like him to sleep in his crib. When night time rolls around I bath him around 9-9:30, massage, read to him and give him a bottle. I can normally get him sleeping in his crib at night from 10 to 2:30 am. I give him a bottle when he wakes up but its like he wide awake again. Im finding Im normally up from 3:00 - 7:00. I get fusterated and bring him in the bed with me, and eventually back in the swing in our room becasue Im exhausted, where he tends to fall asleep for about an hour or so. Ive been keeping track of his eating and sleeping and its all over the place. I try to keep a rountine to help him sleep but how do you get your child to sleep when he wide awake all the time?

Try to exhaust him. Drag him around all day. That's one of the things I did with my girls. Do play time too. A LOT. I find that if I drag my kids around they get pooped by the end of the day and sleep all night. They are 6 and 3 though. My 3 year old is a pain to get to sleep, so I make sure she's really active during the day.

Thanks for your reply. He's only 4.5 months old. Maybe I'm dreaming with hoping he can be on
some sort of sleeping schedule. I'm a new mom so this is all new to me. I'll check out that book. Thanks. Did you find crying it out helped? Seems mean but maybe that would exhaust him. I am finding that white noise off my iPhone is very helpful. I use that all the time. It calms him down so fast. He also still wakes up 3 times a night when it seems like a lot of babies are pretty much off their night feelings. My little guy was born 8lbs 4 oz and is already 17 pounds. He eats a lot. I know all babies are different and I love mine to death but I sure wish he would sleep!

How old is he? My kids never slept either. They were cat nappers too. They would only sleep in a swing, in the car or with me. It got to the point where I was so exhausted that I just let them sleep with me. I know how you feel. I read a great book called The Baby Whisperer, can't remember the author off hand though. It helped me, I didn't agree with ALL of the info but most of it was helpful.
