Landlord needs his condo back after 12 years. We can only afford about $1300 a month and I've looked for days and can't find anything even close to suitable for my family. I'm soo scared. I work for a regional center in SB and we are not getting a raise anytime soon and will be lucky if I am not forced a paycut or furlough days. Hubby is in construction and things are slow and he is on unemployment. 2010 has been the worst year of my life. Lost my daycare for the baby, hubby lost hours at his job, my grandmother past away, oldest son suffers from petit mal seizures and had to have emergency surgery on appendicitis and is losing his hearing in his left ear due to chronic ear infections and permanent damage and now this. Plus many many other little things! HELP....I am scared we will be living in our cars!

Ah thank you Alison. Yes I talked to attorney and since we have been on a month to month lease for 11 YEARS! He only has to give me 90 days notice to vacat. He gave me back my April rent, and told me not to pay May or June. So techincally he is giving me threes months rent and if out by June 27th he will give me my deposit back in full! I'm hoping this leads to something better but right now I'm just worried and scared! And I guess fear change.

Sorry to hear about your hubby too. Construction must be slow everywhere!

How much time do you have? Do you know your rights as a renter? Here in Quebec the renter is overprotected, I do not know what it is like elsewhere.

Sorry to hear about your crappy year. My hubby works construction too and his work is never stable. He spent six months this winter working away from home every other week. :(

Be strong and remember: this too shall pass!!!
