first figure out what your child likes (characters, etc) then figure out what is affordable for you. For my son since he is a dummer baby we did parties in the back yard and decorated with his favorite charachter (t-shirt, button or hat) his cake had the same p image as well as all the decorations. I hope that halped

We keep it limited to 10 friends and had it at 9.30 in the morning that way it was all over by lunch time and the kids can sleep off the sugar. I made the cake the day before my girlfriend came over that night and over a lovely bottle of wine we made the cake into a wiggles guitar. For food we had birthdays cake, homemade sausage rolls and pizzas, lots of fruit and a limited supply of lollies. We filled the trampoline up with balloons and because they are 2 year olds we didnt do organised games (who can organise a 2 year old - not me let alone 10 of them). keep it low key and that way you wont stress too much.
