I have a 2 1/2 year old who seems to be talking too fast for her to make sense. If she talks slowly some of her words make sense. and if she tries to imitate me then she can say all words..Im I supposed to worry about it?

Talk to your child and read every day. Expect that your child communicate and don't put words in their mouths. I used simple signing when my kids were very young. Set the bar high and most kids will excede expectations. Be patient.

Narrate, narrate, narrate! To have output, you need to have input. So, you need to talk about everything. You'll get tired of talking, but you'll enjoy the outcome in the end.

It is not wrong to use baby talk or "motherease" with your child. This will help them learn the flow and rhythm of language. All cultures use this without ill effect. If you are concerned ask for a referral to a speech pathologist. Most states have a birth to three program available for free.

Depending on the age of your child, correct them when they say a word wrong. I wouldn't start this until after age 2 and possibly even 3 years old. Before that, you just want to encourage them to talk. Help them pronunciate by saying the word and having them repeat it. Read to them every day. Never talk baby talk to them, even when they are little. You can change the tone of your voice for little ones, but always speak correctly.
