Generally, it means cutting out night feedings. You can either give her a bottle with water, send papa in to rock her back to sleep, whatever works for you. But there will be more sleepless nights due to teething, illness, etc.

Good luck!

My son is 10 months. He sometimes like maybe 2 nights a week will sleep through. He don't eat in the night except on rare occasssions, when nothing soothes him. He usually wakes up at least once for a diaper change and goes back to sleep. All babies are different. I've heard some mom's have babies that sleep through from real early like 3 months, others have almost 2 year olds that don't. My son has gone through phases. The first few weeks he was up almost hourly. Month one he went to every 3-4 hours. Then 2-4 months he slept 5 hours at a time in the night. 4-6 months he slept 6-7 hours at a time at night. 6-7 months he slept 5 hours at a time. 8 months he slept 4 hours at time. 9 months he slept through the night. 10 months he sleeps 8 hours, then 4 hours then is up for the day.
