How hard was it returning to work after having a baby?

My daughter is a little over 4 months old and I am starting a paid full-time internship next week, May 6th, and I really don't want to leave her 9 or more hours a day. I feel like I will miss out on everything like sitting up, crawling, standing.. everything at this stage in her life. I know I will be very upset when a babysitter tells me she has done any of these things and I missed it. Did anyone else have any problems with returning to work?

Hi kelly, I felt exactly the same way. It's one of the hardest decisions, but in the end you are returning to work to provide for her. I put up photos of my kids on my desk so I know why I am there. The first day is the hardest but it get's easier after that.

All the milestones are a gradual process and you will see them coming before anyone else. I have two children in childcare 3 days a week (2yr old and 10 month old). Some days are tougher than others. My youngest is going through a clingy phase - it is hardest to drop them off for me - but when i walk down the hall she is singing and talking to herself. the best part is picking them up - and they give you the biggest cuddles.
