my water broke around 8pm, and didnt start feeling contractions till about 11pm got my epideral at1:17 and pushed once at 5 and again at 5:30, then couldnt push again till my doctor showed up at 5:40, and my son was born at 5:48

Both of my labours were induced, both were quick 6 hour births with only gas, no other drugs. But the best and quickest birth I have been told about was a woman that arrived at the hospital with mild contractions and at one point had to go to the bathroom and within two pushes her baby was born and plonked into the toilet. Poor thing, she was very embarassed. I think it is amazing that birth can be so quick.

My 1st I went to the doctor in the late morning and took my fiancee back to work at 11:30. By 6:30 pm he was born. My second started mild contractions around 7:30pm. Went to the hospital just around 9:30 pm and delivered at 11:08 pm.

no labor for me! my son reached full term and i had not even started to dilate yet, so the docs gave me the choice of inducing or c-section on my due date. I decided on c-section - had the 20 second epidural prick pain and then Andrew was born! Recovery time afterward was longer - about two weeks till I felt nearly normal again.. but I would not change a thing!

I have 4 kids. My first was my longest at 9 1/2 hrs. My second was 2 1/2, third - 6 hours - they had to induce me because he was so big, and my last one was only 4 hrs.

I was in labour 4 hours in total.... I was so determined to have my baby out, I pushed her out in 3 pushes ! Im sure thats why I needed so many stitches, but that pain was nothing compared to labour !

First labor--2 hrs! Dilated to 10 when we arrived at the hospital. Hope my next one's not born in the car! Can't imagine that would be fun.

Contractions started at 6am and had my son exactly at midnight, so 18 hours total!

Woke up in labor at 2:00 a.m. on January 2, 1995 (my birthday). Had daughter at 3:09 a.m. on January 4. Had to use suction cup to pull her down into birth canal and then head got stuck for a while. Was I glad when all that was over and my beautiful daughter was born. Didn't matter after I saw her!

With my daughter I broke my water at 9pm and had her the following day at 2:27pm.
With my son, I started contracting at 1pm went to the hospital and told them my contractions were 3-4 minutes apart at 3:30pm, and was told that I wasn't in active labor. That night at 11:30pm, my water broke, and with some assistance from pitocin at 6:30am, my son was born at 10:32am.

all 3 of my children were about 10 hours from first contraction to delivery. My deliveries were on the easier side. my last one came the fastest, i was not prepared for him because he was 5 weeks early. I wasn't fully sure I was in labour until the contractions got so bad I was almost doubled over, got to the hospital and I was 8 cm and he was there soon after. My water has never naturally broken, the doc has always broken it because I was so close to delivering. Its so different for everyone, the baby is always worth it.

I was in labor for 24 hours. The dr stripped my membranes at about 3pm, by 6pm I was having regular contractions about 8 min apart. By 4am the next morning I was at the hospital with contractions about 5 min apart. I can't remember the rest of the time line, but they broke my watter to speed it up, then at 6:44 pm DS was born! (Also, I didn't get ANY food, in case I needed a c-section, that was the hardest part)

I had 36hrs of labour followed by emergency C section (he was proud - they just can't fit out that way). I suffered (understand the hit by a bus call) but it was all from the labour.
Second child I had a what I like to call 'civilised ceasar' (ie no emergency). Best day of my life. I actually enjoyed the first bit with my second child. I was so out of if with my first that I missed so much. I'm sure it helped that I knew what I was in for with my second ceasar

This was my first time so i was a bit afraid, but it wasn't so bad. I didnt even know that I was in labor i just felt this cramping pain.I went to the hospital at 10:30, the nurse told that was already 3cm. They told me they were going to induce labor because my water bag had not bursted as yet.they did that and about 3.40 i had my lil girl.

I was in labor for 3.5 hours. She's my first and I think I was pretty blessed with her. I also didn't have any contractions prior to my water breaking, but once it broke, I started having contractions that were piggy backing each other. I couldn't tell when one ended and the other one started. I would get a two minute break after having two contractions in a row.

My water broke at 7:30 PM on 7/1/04, was started on Pitocin (slow drip) at midnight then it was increased at 6 in the morning on 7/2. Got IV pain meds after they increased the drip because ohhhhhhh the pain!!! Then I came to my senses and asked for the epidural. The epidural made the Pit induced contractions a breeze but the pain meds knocked me and the baby out for hours and hours until finally I started dilating around 3:30. Pushed for about 10 minutes and my little man was born at 4:27 that afternoon! So all in all it took about 21 hours...hopefully the 2nd one goes faster and doesn't need Pit (praying for that!!)

from first contraction to actual birth I would say about 16 hours (no epidural), and what the hardest part was that I end up having emergency c-section ... but everything went good, so I got healthy baby girl, but I'll never recommend c-section, I felt like hit from a bus for the next 7 days

22 hours. Started with true contractions at 9 pm. Didnt get miserable until midnight. Arrived at hospital at 1:00am had my son at 7:30pm via c-section. Longest I have ever been awake in my life (without anything to eat or drink!) BUT WELL WORTH EVERY INCONVENIENCE

I think the average is about 8 hours. With my first, I went into the hospital 2-4cm dialated. I was on pitocin (induction meds) by IV, then I was finally dialated enough to push after about 11 hours. Because the pitocin causes such strong contractions, I had an epidural. I pushed for about 30 min and he was out.
With my second son, I was on bed rest for 4 months. I was in ICU bed rest for a month. They sent me home. After 2 weeks I was at full term. Then the little guy didn't want to come out. I walked about 10 miles and nothing. I went into the hospital in the evening. They put me on the Cervidil, a vaginal insert, for about 6 hours and nothing happened. Then they put me on pitocin for 6 hours, and I was finally ready to have him. I pushed twice and he was out.
My cousins stated they were in labor for 4-6 hours for each of their children, 6 total.

For both of my children my water broke first, then contractions soon after. My first boy I was in labour for 28 hours with 3 of those hours pushing. My second boy I was in labour for 6 hours. Eventhough i was in labour for so long with my first i was in no pain just tired, my second child I was in excrutiating pain throughout the whole thing, the epidural did not take.

29 hours with my third child! I started showing signs of pre-eclampsia on a routine check-up, and was sent directly to the hospital. While there I began having mild contractions. After about 2 - 3 hours my dr. decided to induce (luckily I was only 10 days ahead of my due date anyway), but she started me on such a slow pitossin drip that I suffered through contractions from 11am on Jan 20th all the way until 4 pm Jan 21st. I was very sick and exhausted by that time, not to mention STARVING! My 8 year old was also induced, but she only took 8 hours. Only my 16 year old came naturally and was my easiest birth but then again I was much younger then! (18 years old)

With my first, I was induced. It took a total of 36 hours, but maybe 4-6 hours of that was active labor. It was AWFUL! I was also induced with my second son. It only took about 9 hours and I was in active labor for an hour.

Well, I'm a working mother of 3 angels, 2 boys and my latest baby girl. My experience with all 3 of them are different. My eldest, I was in labour about 20 minutes before I gave birth to him. My 2nd soon, I can't even remember much what time I was in labour. I was engross to the tele about the 2004 tsunami in Thailand. I was not even fully prepared my the arrival, bottles, baby cot all are not ready. By the time I was in pain, its time to deliver, I almost delivered my child in the car but I manage to control, as I reach the hospital I'm labour already less than 15 minutes I gave birth to my 2nd son. As for my girl is the longest one almost 2 hours but that I was on oxygen. But so far in the family, I glad that all my labour are short. P/S The secret to it is that exercise, relaxation and faith......

2nd-12 hours, much better
3rd-16 hours with induction, towards the end finally got an epidural for the 1st time ever, had the baby within 1 hour, would recommend to anyone, makes the process much better and easier, I thought , since I already had two without any of that. Many other complications but made it through with 3 healthy baby boys.

#2 - 15 hours of labor and 30 min. of pushing.
#3 - I was induced, pain meds did not work at all. After 15 1/2 hours I had emergency c-section. Heart rate was bottoming out and cord was wrapped around his neck and arm! He was worth it, but no more babies for me!! :)
