Hello!
I have a wonderful two year old boy, and I work full time at a factory, and also I am part of the National Guard. I want to know how many of you moms out there are working from home, and if you dont, how do you make time to spend with your child/ren? I want to become a "work from home mommy", but I dont know really know where to get started, or if that will help my relationship with my son or not. Thoughts, questions, comments, concerns?

I have been working from home for about 1 yr. I have a 2 yr. old son. I have a set schedule I spend time with him in the mornings play time, play groups, in the afternoon I do my work for my home business which I work with a company called AmeriPlan. I work about 4 hrs in the afternoon. Then he gets up and my time is spent with him and trying to get household duites and dinner etc. Then when he goes to bed I work about another 3 hours. Then bed.
The best tip I give all moms who want to work at home is make a schedule so that you spend time with your child and you can also be productive at your home business.

I am an independent fashion consultant at Alma & Co., and I love my job. No pressures. I have my own time and rules. Everything is perfect for me since I can earn even when I'm at home doing chores and taking care of my kids.

I work from home as a Beachbody coach. I started with their workout programs 5 years ago and then when my 2nd child went to school full time, I started doing the business side of it. Helping people get fit along with staying fit myself. I now have a free workout at my church and love hearing success stories of people that I come in contact with. Fitness is also my passion, so I am doing a job that I love. Is it work and discipline, YES, but it is worth it.

Full time online student and will be a full time at home mommy I know that school and working isnt exactly the same thing but I am fully aware that it will not be an easy job! I have been told that if u search for jobs online and put that you do want to work at home in your research that youll be surprised by how many jobs are available to you. It really depends on how much you need to be making and if a company you are interested in offers at home work. Good luck and go do some searching!!! :)

I've worked from home for the past years doing freelance writing gigs and working as a virtual organizer. It was tough for awhile, but after expanding my own knowledge I've worked my way up so it's not such a struggle. My friends that work outside of the home all have wonderful relationships with their children. You find your own balance and everyone is happier for it, no matter where you work =)

Amy I agree with you...I had to come to the realization that my house may no longer be SPOTLESS but the important thing is that I spend time with my child. I noticed that she started acting out at one point and the cause was she was feeling neglected. Once I started really tuning in to her she was fine again.

I work from home online and I love it! I work with a Team of Moms so it's okay to have my Children around. We just signed up for 4 different Mommy & Me classes that will start mid June. I'm looking forward to taking them and enjoying that quality time!!! If you're looking to work from home our Team has come up with a free training on what to look for and what to avoid when looking to work from home. visit: www.CEOTrainingVideo.com for the free training.

Best Wishes!

I work midnights, mu husband works days and we never see eachother, i have the kids all day, but i feel like its not quality time spent because i am always so tired and cranky, then when my husband gets home i go to bed. He spends about 3-4 hours a day with them them, then its bedtime. Our schedules work as far as not needing any sort of child care. But its rough not being able to keep my eyes open or see my husband. I would seriously LOVE to work from home. I just have no idea where to start looking.

That is a great question! I have a 3 1/2yo and a 5 yo. Both DH and I work FT and have atleast a 1hr commute each way. DH is in construction so requires a lot of flexibility and, as best as he tries, is pretty inconsistent when picking up the girls from daycare. My job has gotten so demanding lately that I feel that I am unavailable for my kids. And I feel that when my 5yo starts kinder I need to be there for her more than ever. I would like to quit my FT job but would also like to find something that I can do from home, so I can still bring in some extra money but still have that flexibility. I'm totally getting that working mom guilt thing more than I ever have! I hope you find something, and I hope I can find something too! GL!

I have worked from home since I had my first born. I love it, but it definitely didn't happen over night. I now work from home full time and also run my own websites. My children understand that Mommy has to "work" and don't generally bother me when I am. Setting a schedule is the best way to make working from home work. Treat it like a real job, except with a lot more breaks!

I've done it, but it was hard. For a while, DH and I were both working full-time but couldn't afford child-care. I would WFH from 6 AM to 8AM, spend time with the kids until their 1 PM nap started, then WFH from 1 to 7 PM. My kids' nap ended at 3, and Dad got home around 4, so I'd settle them in front of the TV with snacks until he got home. One key part was to not be in the same room as them while I worked. I don't think it helped my relationship with my 4-year-olds at all; I think it really hurt, actually, since it was hard for them to tell if Mommy was really "home" or not, so they didn't feel like they could rely on me. What it did help with a lot was breastfeeding and bonding with my newborn. A newborn doesn't care if you are tapping at a keyboard while you are there, as long as you are just *there*. I would add: Do your work in a seperate room, away from the older kids, whenever possible. It helps clear up the "Is Mommy 'home'?" confusion a bit, and helps with being professional and staying focused. Of course, this doesn't always work. I became a WFH mom by getting a job I could do from home occasionally (e.g., when sick enough to stay home but not too sick to work), then negotiated with my boss while pregnant to WFH instead of taking maternity leave (stupid recession, that was a real pain :p ).

Working from home is great, but you have dicipline and boundaries so the kids know when it is work time and when it is play time. Best of luck finding the right business to work from home. When looking for the right business it may be helpful to work backwards and determine how much you need to earn and then figure out what you have to do to achieve that goal and then calculate the hours it will take to make it. If you can find something that is part time say 20-30 hours a week it would well be worth the time spent.

I work from home, but it was a long hard road. There is a website-ratracerebellion. They offer legitimate work from home jobs.

I work full time as a Operations Manager. I work Monday through Thursday 7-5:30, So I have weekends off. I wish I could work from home so I could get started on my second child sooner and spend more time with my 2 year old. But Having nights and 3 day weekends is a plus and I don't think I could get the same pay. But a job is a job! :)

I do not work from home I work full time with an hour commute. My husband works nights, my kids are only 5 and 13 months. The five year old is only in pre-school and next year he has afternoon kindergarten so they are on our schedule. The 13 month old goes to bed at 8 pm, my sons bedtime is 8:30. That way when I get home from work I get to spend time with them. My schedule is random too so if I dont have to be to work till 1 in the afternoon I make sure that I'm spending time with the kids before I go. I'll be honest with the laundry is never put away and the vacumn doesn't get used as often as it should but I'm pretty sure that my kids aren't concerned how clean the house is they want time with mom and dad,
