Gas is such a high expense for most of us. But there are ways to save that have cut 25% or more from our gas budget each month. Anyone who would like suggestions you can let me know.

OK . . .I live in Humboldt County, CA - the place that is reported to have the highest gas prices in the nation . . .YES, you heard right the highest in the nation. Currently I am paying $4.49.999 a gallon and that is at Costco! Luckily, I have a company credit card to pay for gas - However, my husband does not and his gas bills alone are close to $500 per month.

Has anyone seriously thought about the over all cost- not only fuel, but groceries, clothing, shoes, utilities etc- the avg family increase is about $500 per mo with these higher prices- think about how ;you could supplement your income to cover these cost by working from home. I have some answers- e mail me at workathomeunited.com/clovis.

Right now in RI it is any where from $3.81-$3.93 depending on the gas station. It really sucks because the price on certain foods have risen $0.30-$1.00. Also it is making hard to make any extra trips on the weekend to visit friends and family.

Sylvia, it is up to $4.19 now in California! It will probably jump again Easter week and then in June I can see $5 easily, they always raise the prices when Summer rolls along

Sharon, it would save you alot if you were able to find a closer sitter. Ask at church, they have good references or a friend or neighbor.

Just for some perspective, gas was $1.29/l here (in Toronto) yesterday, which I have figured out is equivalent to $4.96/gallon. $4.13/gallon is equivalent to $1.08/l, which would seem cheap to us in comparison.

None at all. We don't own a car; DH and I get to work by bus or subway and on foot. My transit pass (unlimited rides) costs $110/month, and DH typically spends $50-60 on tokens.

Where I work is only about 5 miles from my house, but I drive 20 miles round trip twice a day to drop off and pick up my daughter from daycare. I found that even though it is a drive and I have to leave an hour before my shift starts, this is best for her and me. She does wonderful there. Due to that, I probably spend $160.00 a month alone for that (give or take a tank a week to drive that).

I spend about $80.00 a month. One tank of gas will last me all month. I work about a five minute drive away.

Is that in Canada Ashley? It must be more than $5/gal then, that is quite expensive! It was that high a few years ago here in california.

About $100. hubby and I work at the same place.

Believe it or not the oil companies and the gov't are making out like bandits not the stations. The price you pay for gas, most of the money goes toward taxes and the oil company not the little guy running the station.

My Expedition went from about $50 a week to $70, does anyone get a raise each time their gas goes up? So why do the gas station owners all make more? Believe me, they pass on the increase as soon as it is in the news because they know we all have to pay for gas each week. I laughed when I saw the email that said don't buy gas on Monday to force the prices down, because they will just be higher on Tuesday! When is there going to be relief?

I personally only spend about $50 per week. I live about 15 minutes from my job. Sadly, my husband spends about $250 or more weekly on gas. So together it is sometimes more than $300.

My commute everyday is 110 miles, some days it's less if I don't have to pick my kids up but that's maybe one or two days a week if I'm lucky. Gas prices here are still only 3.79 but I've seen them as high as 3.99. Thankfully daycare is my MIL or else my take home pay after gas and daycare would be nothing. I cringe at the thought of how much gas is going to be by the time summer comes around there will be no money to go on vacation! On the same lines as the gas prices I refuse to put gas in my car at stations that charge me more when I use my debit/credit card, I know they get charged a fee and they have a right to pass that along to the consumer but I REFUSE to go there!
