OK . . .I live in Humboldt County, CA - the place that is reported to have the highest gas prices in the nation . . .YES, you heard right the highest in the nation. Currently I am paying $4.49.999 a gallon and that is at Costco! Luckily, I have a company credit card to pay for gas - However, my husband does not and his gas bills alone are close to $500 per month.

Has anyone seriously thought about the over all cost- not only fuel, but groceries, clothing, shoes, utilities etc- the avg family increase is about $500 per mo with these higher prices- think about how ;you could supplement your income to cover these cost by working from home. I have some answers- e mail me at workathomeunited.com/clovis.

Where I work is only about 5 miles from my house, but I drive 20 miles round trip twice a day to drop off and pick up my daughter from daycare. I found that even though it is a drive and I have to leave an hour before my shift starts, this is best for her and me. She does wonderful there. Due to that, I probably spend $160.00 a month alone for that (give or take a tank a week to drive that).
About $100. hubby and I work at the same place.
Believe it or not the oil companies and the gov't are making out like bandits not the stations. The price you pay for gas, most of the money goes toward taxes and the oil company not the little guy running the station.

My Expedition went from about $50 a week to $70, does anyone get a raise each time their gas goes up? So why do the gas station owners all make more? Believe me, they pass on the increase as soon as it is in the news because they know we all have to pay for gas each week. I laughed when I saw the email that said don't buy gas on Monday to force the prices down, because they will just be higher on Tuesday! When is there going to be relief?

My commute everyday is 110 miles, some days it's less if I don't have to pick my kids up but that's maybe one or two days a week if I'm lucky. Gas prices here are still only 3.79 but I've seen them as high as 3.99. Thankfully daycare is my MIL or else my take home pay after gas and daycare would be nothing. I cringe at the thought of how much gas is going to be by the time summer comes around there will be no money to go on vacation! On the same lines as the gas prices I refuse to put gas in my car at stations that charge me more when I use my debit/credit card, I know they get charged a fee and they have a right to pass that along to the consumer but I REFUSE to go there!
