How to find time to exercise?

I have the same challenges as you all as it relates to working all day and then having to cook dinner and spend time with my daughter.  She goes to bed around 8:30 and then I have time to get some cleaning and laundry done.  I prefer to get up early in the morning and work out then.  It sounds good, but it means you are giving up some valuable sleep in the morning.  You just have to push yourself to do it.  I like doing this at home for about 30 minutes every other morning.

I am a single mom with a nine year old. I work 40 hours a week and manage in a workout 5 days a week. It's my release!!! They do have a great daycare at the 24hr fitness I go to. I am up with my daughter every morning at 530. Its hard but we do it. You need time for you. You matter just as much!!! I am out the door by 645 each morn. just to do it all over again the next day. :) My daughter has built relationships with the girls at the gym, and everyone knows Kaylie by name. You can make it work girl!

I dont have time either. I do not know how other woman do it. I have however recently discovered wii Fit and am loving it. So, it doesnt feel like more work, it feels like relaxed fun. Any exercise you can do that is relaxing is about all I can handle. I do have and need time to relax each and every day. Yoga was good for awhile, I can do stretching at home before bed. If I do not enjoy it and find it to be a way for me to unwind after my day of non stop work, I will not do it.

I go after I put my son to bed.  He goes to bed at 7:30pm and I'm out the door by 7:35pm.  My husband is always willing to stay home with him.  I prepare all my suppers in advance so all I have to do is cook them when I get home from work.  I get home from work at 5pm and we're usually eating by 5:30 or 6:00pm.  You can freeze just about anything.  Then I do his tub and we hang out and then it's off to bed.  I know it's late to work out but I can't do mornings and I can't give up time with my son either.

I exercise three times a week with workout tapes that are only 30 minutes long.  It is not a lot but it is better than nothing.  I like "The Firm" workouts.  7pm is a good time for me.  Dinner and the dishes are done and the kids are playing in the family room.  I put the tape in while they play.  I get in the 30 minute workout while manuvering around them, the dog, and all the toys.  I just hope that helps to intensify the workout! :)  Afterwards, I start getting the kids ready for bed and I am in the shower by 9:00pm.

Where I live, it's VERY cold in the winter.  Some girls from work and I started walking at lunch, in the PARKING GARAGE!!  I know.  It's crazy.  But it's the only time we have and it's way to cold to be outside at the moment.  It's only 30 minutes a day but it's cardio, and it helps.

Working out while having a young child is hard. I find time to exercise at lunch. Is there a gym available at your company or nearby? I found a gym near to my office location and work out during my lunch hour. It is a great stress reliever both for personal and professional stress. Plus taking a shower in the middle of the day after a good workout is a nice pick me up.

I have to first thing in the morning.   I slip on my tennis shoes with my pj's still on.  I have a treadmill for some days, then I switch to a stepper and use hand weights on other days.  This morning I walked on the treadmill while I was blow drying my hair.  My husband shook his head and walked out of the room.  There are also some pretty cool exercises that you can do while playing with your baby.   Not sure of a good source for those but that is something I did when my kids were babies.   I also incorporate exercises while at work.  I take the stairs all day instead of the elevator, I have hand weights on my desk that I can use while talking on the phone, etc.  I also use part of my lunch hour to walk.
