My daughter just turned 10 months on Feb 8th, I want to start weaning her, but she doesnt eat baby food, doesnt take baby formula, she likes eating our food but not much. I am thinking that if i wait to 1 yr she will be difficult to wean. The good thing is that she is able to use a sippy cup. Please advise mei cant rely on our foods because milk is very important to babies.

I wouldn't switch her to whole milk if she's not a good eater. The first year of life breastmilk or formula is there primary source of nutrition, and solids are just for fun. If you switch her to whole milk now she is going to be missing out on the nutrients her body needs especially since you describe her as a picky eater. There is nothing wrong with continuing to bf after the first year, my daughter is 11 months and I'm not just going to stop when she turns one. If you want to wean it's recommended that you take away one feed every week or so that way your body adjusts otherwise you could create problems for yourself. I know that once my daughter turns one I will only pump once a day at work and plan on eliminating it altogether once my body adjusts. Hopefully that helps you a little.

I know others that bf after the age of 1. As others say, its important to get all the nutrients. my daughter is 2 1/2 and has allergies. so we have to adjust her diet. But always be sure your daughter gets the nutrients, so it's probably not wise to switch before she's on other regular foods..

You are not supposed to give children anything less than whole milk after their first birthday as they need the fat content.

You can give a baby whole milk in food before 12 months - rice pudding - porridge etc

I would start with 2% not whole because of the fat content. I would start the baby food first .Get the ceral going don't put it in the bottle, Try it in a bowl and mix warm formal with it i would also when you have tryed the differedn foods for about a week to see if babies are not getting a allergery reaction I would mix applesauce with it but that is later

It is recommended that you not introduce whole milk until 2 weeks prior to their first birthday if you start sooner they are more likely to have problems with food allergies and they as stated before do miss out on the nutrients from you.

My daughter is not a good eater, i think i should wait until she turns 1, but is it okey like giving her the whole milk or goat milk once a day so that she gets used to it before i start weaning her.

I gave my daughter goat milk because it's a lot easier on their digestive system and not as fattening as whole milk.

if she was a good eater Id say go for it, but if she doesnt wat well she needs the nutrition from you. I plan on starting the whole weening process at 10 months as it is my choice and I feel my son is ready. He eats great he is 8 1/2 months old now
