i am a mum of two monderful boys, a 13yrs old and a 7 mths old. i work full time and it's a shift work with a 5am start, 10 hours a day and it could fall to 60 to 70 hrs a week because of the shift rotation. I would like some tips from mums who are in a similar work situation and how to combat fatigue!

thank you kimberley, my eldest helps me a bit, just when i get home from work, and i sleep when the baby sleep, it's hard to get to sleep at night. i guess i will have to just live with it. thinking of change a career but just going to take more time and effort to learn again. at least i'm no alone. there are millions of mums out there that i believe in the same work situation.

I worked shifts like these for quite a few years, and sometimes the fatigue is overwhelming. Gather all the support you can to help with the kids and make sure you have a very reliable babysitter.

Don't be afraid to ask for help. I was lucky enough that my kids were a little older and they could help with each other if I needed a nap. Just be sure to get sleep when they do and don't worry if some of the housecleaning doesn't get done. It will still be there when you get to it. The important thing is time with the kids and sleep.

I don't know if you are married or single, but your 13 yr old can help too. There is no reason you have to do it all by yourself.
