I am pregnut with my 2nd child and have always wondered about this. Do you change your child every time they get up during the night? When my first child got up during the night, I changed him EVERY single time that he got up..... And if not, do i buy bigger dippers or night time dippers to make the baby feel comfortable at night and so I dont have to change them all the time ?

I think as a first time mother we all change our babies everytime they awoke during the night...However by the time the second child comes we all realize how expensive diapers are and tend to change the second child less during the night...I found myself with my second daughter that I would put the thick night time desitin cream on her especially at night and would change her every 2nd time she would awake through the night...It made it less expensive for me and honestly I never had a problem with diaper rashes...I also would use a vasaline during the daytime to prevent her skin from being irritated by wetness and then only changed her every 3 to 4 hours as needed throughout the day...

Neither of my kids will (would) go to bed with a wet diaper. my four month old recently started waking once a night again and he is happy for 15 minutes or so and then fusses. when i go in, his diaper is soaked.

You should change them everytime... Rashes and certin bacterias can spread rather quickly and a wet and/or soiled diaper is a wonderful breeding ground.. Besides, babies are people, just like you. If it were you, wouldn't you want someone to change you???

If they are sleeping through the night, however, let them sleep..

If the child is wet, change the child's diaper.

If you don't change a child when s/he is wet the amonia in their urine will give them diaper rash.

Get pampers 12 hrs if he's already big. My son is 2 and I change him and I put vaseline so when I change him in the morning he won't be rashy. My newborn wakes up when she pees so I change her since they get rashy fast since they poo and pee a lot and don't want her to get urinary track infection or get rashy in staying in a soil diaper. When their nb you have to change them when they pee or poo

Something that I learned from my mom and older sisters experience, and did myself: "never change a baby in the middle of the night, unless the baby pooped". Once you change them, they really wake up. I always use bigger diepers or night time huggies, I never live his bedroom with him during the night and I do not turn on any lights, have eye contact or talk to him. I get up, feed him and put him right back in his crib, and it works wonders.... I am on my second son and it still working. My boys do not have a problem with rash. I learned that using bigger diepers and not making them to tight, plus using A&D, helps to keep the rash down... My older son is 4 now and never had an infection, rash or anything on his private parts.

i too am a mom of 2 kids, my second is 2 months old now, at this point he is still waking about every 3 hours or so to eat, so i usually change him if he is wet while the bottle is heating up, but he is pretty particular about being wet even just a little wet..i did the same with my first, once he started sleeping for more than 4-5 hours i did buy a night time or bigger diaper for the evenings and unless he was fussy or the diaper was full , i would wait until the morning to change him..

I always checked for poo but if it was just pee, I would wait until the diaper was full or close to full before changing. That meant usually a bum change early in the morning.
