My name is Jody Cantrell Dyer. I am an adoptive mother, teacher, and author. I recently published a book titled THE EYE OF ADOPTION: the true story of my turbulent wait for a baby. Now that the book is "out there" I am working hard on promoting it and its message of hope and humor to those affected by infertility and/or adoption. Amazon.com reader reviews are good (4.9 stars with 21 reviews), so I am proud of the finished product. I just joined Circle of Moms (a fantastic idea and resource) and would love advice from other working mothers, especially those who write, on how to market online. What do you think? Thanks!

Janet,
I checked out your website and subscribed for the tips! I like the upbeat feel of your site. I am in the US, but my book is available in the UK. Who knows? I am going through your to-do list in advice. I can't thank you enough for responding to my Circle of Moms post, and I look forward to learning from you via your website!!!

Jody, your welcome :)

I check your website, is it Wordpress, if so you can easily add a blog. There are bloggers that write long posts and bloggers that write short post. and some share poor quality information but continue to do it. You should not worry about quality you have written a book, i'm sure your few sentences will top many bloggers content easily. Use the time you do have to write your posts, and don't dwell on the time you don't have positiveness is always the key :)

if you can only fit in a 10 min break gap to write a post make it good. Plus you don't need to post every day. You can prepare your posts in advance and then schedule them to post automatically. Of if you want to post each one yourself like that will be your time then again you only need maybe a 10, 15 min window. Use your time driving back from dropping off the kids to brain storm your posts. Got a phone use the voice recorder to recorder your voice brainstorming, or even narrate a post. Then use your recording to write up your post. I do still all the time you will be surprised what can flow from your lips when you are just free to just speak out loud.

I know of a blog that only writes 7 sentences for each and every post. Yet you can get so much from those 7 sentences. That blog may i add has a huge following to. If your readers enjoy your words that's all that matters.

Plus why are you being selfish and not allowing your readers of your book to get to know the author behind journey :) ~You already of people who are interested in your words, give then some more via your blog :)

Most forums unlike this one allow you to add information to the bottom of every post or thread you do. You can type or copy and paste your website url into your signature section via the forums control panel or your account section. Also make sure that you make your website link click-able. Again this can be done in the same place. If you still don't understand or can't find where to do this, share the forum url you are a member of and i will check it out and tell you step by step how to add your url into your signature.

Want more help promoting, you can get some great ideas from here Best2KeepitSimple.com that's where i share a whole lot more.

I see your author page on Amazon.com but have you also completed Your Public Profile page too. If not you can get to it here:

Amazon.com > Your Account [top right] > Personalisation [scroll down on ur left] > Your Public Profile

You can share your website links in this section too.

Janet,
Thanks so much for responding with GREAT feedback.
I do have a website: www.jodydyer.com.
I do not have a blog. I know I need one, but to be honest, I am full-time teacher with two sons (11 and 2). The eleven-year-old plays travel baseball and basketball, and my husband and I both have 45 minute commutes. Long story short, I fear my time constraints would inhibit the quality of posts.
I need to do Twitter. Several folks have suggested that.
When you say "put your URL in your signature," do you mean copy and paste the link or just type it? Thanks!
I will do EVERYTHING you suggested ASAP!

Thanks again. Women are so freaking smart. Ha!
