I've starting working yesterday and my little boy from 6 months old doesn't want to drink from a bottle. My husband smelled and tasted the milk and it has gone sour. Even the milk I have pumped yesterday was sour today. I have a little cooling bag with an freezer element which I use to hold the milk.

What can I do? Does anyone have an golden tip to get my little one to drink? I am gone more than 12 hours and I don't think it is healthy for my baby boy to go without drinking all day long.

My milk would also go sour in ~2 days in the fridge. So I would freeze it at work, immediately after pumping. Then transfer it to the freezer at home. My nanny or hubby would thaw it just a few hours before using it, or go directly from freezer to a pan of warm water to thaw and warm it up just when it was needed. I would guess that your cooling bag just isn't cold enough, so you should find a freezer to keep it in, instead.

Also, if there is any bacteria left in the storage bottles/bags, then that will turn it sour. Luckily, most *slightly* sour milk isn't harmful (unless some bad bacteria get in) - it just tastes bad.

I don't think your baby will go on a hunger strike (for long), so if the bottle is all that is available, he will eventually take it. But some do resist the bottle for a while, which is really challenging. My lactation consultant said that I should give him the bottle at first, so it was a more gradual transition from boob-to-bottle. It *only* took him about a day (of crying! - it was a long day...) to get used to the bottle. Good luck!

You may have to freeze the milk as it is probably only good refrigerated shortly after you pump it. Also, maybe its going sour because of something you are eating. I wasnt able to breast feed my son for too long after he was born...I had way too many complications that prevented me from doing so. Do some research or ask your doctor.
