Hi! I waited til my son was 3 years old too. I've seeen friends push their kids way too early and deal with a year or more of constant accidents. It stressful for you, which causes stress on the child. My son also didn't seem to mind at all going in his diaper, but at 3 years I know his body was ready, it was just convincing him that he was ready. He was able to sleep through the night without peeing (which is how I really new it was time), and would successfully pee on the potty throughout the day. But he would poop in his diaper; you could never tell when he did it, and he didn't mind sitting in it so I thought it would be hard. Pull-ups are a waste of money, and a pain since when they poop they don't re-close like a diaper (yuck!) So I jumped right in and made him wear underwear, and it was like a light switch! He had a total of 3 poop accidents, and never again did he poop in his underwear! It's a different sensation when they poop in cloth vs a diaper. They don't like it. My best advice is to wait (which you have done patiently!), and skip the pull ups and go straight to underwear! We used the reward program for about a month, and then they forget about it (something small, like stickers, or smarties). And praise for a good job is always great for their self-esteem and desire to please you. I'm not sure if this is helpful, but hopefully you find some reassurance in the fact that having a 3 year old boy in diapers is common, and yes, he will wear his Elmo underwear! Just jump into it!

Hi, My daughter didn't mind going in her diaper either or pull-ups. She was 3 1/2 yrs old before she started using the potty. One day I said "No more pull-ups" and I put panties on her. She pee'd in them once. Then she was potty trained. My problem is she still won't poo in the potty chair. She thinks she has to stand.
