My almost 4 year old gets "growing pains" in the middle of the night. They are always in her legs and feet, usually only one part, (like her right foot, or left knee.) She never expresses any pain during the day. She won't take a heating pad, will use an ice pad but that doesn't help muscle pain. I end up giving her Motrin and she finally settles down and goes back to sleep and stays asleep. Any advice or suggestions?

My 6 year old has been doing the same thing off and on for the past couple of years and I have found that the Motrin does the job every time. The doctor said he needed more potassium, but I did not notice a big difference when he ate more bananas.

Hi my 4 year old son suffers the same problem we normally take him out of bed and walk him round the room for a few minutes, this seems to settle the pains and back off to sleep he goes... maybe you should give this a try and see if it works for you. Good luck.
