Starting your own business

[deleted account] ( 28 moms have responded )

I am a mom of a 3 year old little boy. I am at a point where I am tired of being away from him and while I hate gimmick and am very hard to sell to almost anything finally found a business that I can do and now am able to spend more time with my son. I wanted to share this opportunity with as many moms firstly but also get feedback on what moms think about becoming business owners and how many would be willing to put in this kind of work to spend that much more time at home? look forward to your responses thanks

Ahfeeyah, I have been a business owner 3 years now and work from home. It is the only way to give yourself a raise! The benefits are too many to list, but the time with your child is irreplacable!

It's worth it! I don't own a business, but I can create my own time for work, and am not tied to office, so I'm in a good place. Go for it!

Way to go with your Mary Kay. I have a home based business as well with a 2 year old son. It works for me. The only difference is there is no selling and carrying inventory. I set my own hours and decide how much I will make.

I'm assuming its a home based business right? I think its worth a try. I've been a small business furniture owner for 3 years, and its not the same as a home based business.

You go girl! I started a landscaping and nursery business. I was in a car accident which left me disabled. I have 3 children to raise on my own. Having my children in the greenhouse early morning is the most rewarding therapy for any single mother. Its truly worth the effort to start your own business for the moms at home. Good luck!

Hi, I was looking for something to give me a real work life balance, to be there for the kids, somthing for me, extra income and something that would help me remember who i am. My job at the time was not as secure as i wished, so i built up my home based business alongside my career in the nooks and crannies of time and i love it, i'm now me again and what a good job i did, as i have just been made redundant from the job i felt wasn't secure, how right i was! but never mind i will carry on with my home based business and I am happy helping others achieve their dreams. A business where you work for yourself, but never by yourself! Someone showed me this and helped me so that is now what i do.

My husband and I started our on AdvoCare business. Drew Brees is the National UNPAID spokesman for AdvoCare. Not only will you lose weight and have the best skin you have ever had, but youi can make easy and awesome money at doing it. Best of all - the support and training you get from the corporate office. The neat thing about AdvoCare is if yiu sign up you are supporting our local MLM here in Shreveport. AdvoCare is the proud sponsor of the Independence Bowl and the founder, Charlie Ragus, is from Shreveport. He only moved to Dallas to build AdvoCare from the ground up. Another awesome thing about AdvoCare is the DebtBuster's program. They actually teach you how to get out of debt. People have paid off as much as $250,000.00 in debt in less than 5 years. I was hooked on the products. If you would like to sample the Spark, contact me and I will get a sample to you. There is products for every health issue you can think of. Hope to hear from you soon.

I am all for working from home. I would love to work from home and be able to spend more time at home. I am tired of working for everyone else and them making all the money that I could be making myself. I want to be able to make enough money at home that I can stay home. We live in the Florida Keys and it is super expensive. We want to be able to give our son the best life possible but we want to be able to spend more time with our son than we are currently able to. What is the home business that you found?

wow thanks everyone this is great. i will say that I am happy with mary kay and if anyone is interested i can give more information or even if you want to try some products. I think the reason why i love this business oportunity is because of what its based on and it is to empowered women while having a legitimate business as well. when im finished working i feel wonderful. mary kay also lets you try products before you use them and as a consultant i make 50 percent of everything and a company car i love this oportunity... does anyone think im crazy!!

I was looking for an opportunity to make some extra money -- Thirty-One Gifts was the opportunity I was looking for. I loved the philosophy behind the company and the people within it!
Thirty One Gifts offers a unique product line, ranging from purses and hand bags to stationary and personalized accessories. Thirty One products are outstanding, unique, and are very-high, if not the highest, quality. The Thirty One Gifts mission is to celebrate, encourage and reward, because of this we put all effort to ensure our products are cleverly designed, gift-able, affordable and of very high quality. Gifts from Thirty One will always bring a smile to the recipients face.
The best part is that I create my own hours. I can work as little or as much as I would like. The income possibilities are endless. There are also fantastic rewards and incentives with this company. The company is so new in the marketplace that no one has really heard of it and the consultants are not saturating the area. Our start- up fee is $99 and they have a promo now to earn $50 cash back!
Check out my website at http://www.mythirtyone.com/perkinson for more information and see the amazing Thirty-One products. Feel free to message me at any time :-)

I too was in your position, staying at home and wanting to do something small to bring in some extra money for groceries. I found a great company, I work part time (when kids are napping). I save on the products that I was already buying and I get paid! with a check not coupons. If this sounds appealing to you, let me know and I will show you how you too can save your family some money and make some in the process.

I have been scammed so many times, trying to find something I could do from home. However, I have found this site, http://www.MaverickMoneyMakingURich.info, that a friend told me about. It's Like a private club. she has been doing it for about 8 months and is now earning around $1500 per month. She only does it part time, as she has a job. Apparently they give you loads of information on how to promote it without having to spend any money on advertising. They have videos on the site to show you how it works.

let me know what you think.

I am a school teacher with Crohn's Disease. I decided to stay home with my kids as well. Somewhere along the line I lost myself and didn't feel like I was worth anything. So I've dabbled in direct sells off and on but finally decided to give AdvoCare a chance, a real chance. I love it. I still get to be home and I'm being productive and healthy all at the same time.

I'm a work at home mom, too. I worked outside the home for many years before starting my business from home. I will have to say it is difficult to juggle family and work at the same time, but my kids also LOVE me being home and being available for them when they need me.

Ahfeeyah,
I tried selling cosmetics, but selling wasn't what I'm good at. I have a work at home business too now, but I'm not selling anything, just doing what I love, which is encouraging and helping others!! :) However, I love Mary Kay products! :) For those that can do the selling thing, way to go!

[deleted account]

I started my own Mary Kay business and I have to say I love it. It just gives me more time with my son and I have so much support from my directors and sister consultants. its so empowering and at the same time i am able to do what i need to do to pay the bills...
