My son will be 14 this month, but I noticed all the "teen changes" when he turned 13. His attitude changed, his voice really changed, and he started to "pull away" from me. We had always had an extremely close relationship, so this part really hurt me. He just about doesn't want to go anywhere with me unless one of his friends can go with, and all of the sudden, he has lots of girl "friends". Hey, babies and toddlers were a breeze compared to what I am seeing now and what I'm probably going to be going thru for the next 4 yrs or so. All I can do is hope and pray I did and am still doing the best I can in raising my son and that he'll turn out to be a good man, with a good job, liked and respected by all. Too much? :)

I have a 13 and 9 year old daughter. People keep telling me that you will get thru these teen years but sometimes you got a wonder if you will get thru them sane.

Absolutely! I have a 16 year old son, twins girls that will be 14 in a couple of weeks and a step-son who is coming to live with us that is 13. Pray for me. It's crazy at our house especially with all of their activities. I can barely keep up. We did my son a car when he turned 16 and he is helping some, when he doesn't have football, basketball or baseball practice!

I've found that they need me more now that they are teens than before.

Yep, I have a girl 13 and a boy 12... just starting and I can already feel the changes. I agree with the comment that Diane Smith made earlier: this is the time when parents need tips the most!

I have 2 teen girls - 13 and 17. I think teens are when we need the most parenting tips.

Hi Electa - have a search of the Communities in the Circle Of Moms site - there are a couple like 'Moms of Teenagers' :) The good news is that you do survive these years! It is just sometimes you have to wait years to look back without therapy, lol

I'm a mom of a sixteen year old girl and yes...it's a horror show sometimes. Also, I have somehow ended up working with teens as a social worker......what was I thinking?? And as far as having the parenting thing down by the time they are teens....that begins a whole new book with no lessons in it until you live it!

My sister is a teen and is the most ungrateful thing. I am 28 and now she is seventeen. I really dont want to go through the teen years with mine it does not look fun...

I have 2 kids they are 12 and 13, I have to admit I haven't seen that many people on here with teenage kids. I guess people think that you have the parenting thing down by the time your kids are in their teens.
