Your risk of birth defects increase after the age of 30. That does not mean your shouldn't have a baby. I am 30 well 31 in a few days, and we are planning on possibly having another which would put me at 32/33. Talk to your OB. Basically, if you have not had any problems giving birth before and you are healthy he of she will probably say go for it.

I think that if you are healthy that any age is ok. If you are older, talk to your dr about both yours and the fathers age and see what he/she says and understand that as you get older there can be more complications. Usually over 40 is when they put you in a high risk category, although keep in mind, many older women have very healthy babies.

I got scared myself. I had one super active boy at 42, and surprisingly came another cute baby girl by age 44! I had my first baby when I was 30. They're all fine, healthy and smart. I am too. If you live a healthy life and take care of yourself, I guess it's possible despite higher risks.

I am 33. I had my only child at 32. Doctor's don't consider you to be of "advanced maternal age" until you give birth at 35 years old. Then by doctor's standards you are at increased risk. There are increased risks after that, though my mom had my brother at 37 and he is very healthy. I am personally thinking that I will not have any more children after 35 years old. I don't want to go through the risk.

When i reached the age of 40, my doctor advised me not to get pregnant again. Good thing I already have three kids before i reached that age. Most of the problems occur during late pregnancy....
