My fiance' and I both work 40 + hrs a week and are raising a toddler. Anyone have some good meal planning, cooking, organizing, or cleaning tips or things that have worked for you?
I just feel like we are always playing catch up and would like to stay ahead of the game to ensure more play time and quality time with our daughter.
I cook up some chicken or beef ahead of time and freeze it, but I lack in taking the time to meal plan. I absolutely despise trying to swing by the grocery store at night on my way home from work and daycare. Not to mention, my child is a marshmallow in her winter coat and trying to stuff her into her carseat is a job in itself and I prefer to do it only twice a day!
Any ideas or things that have worked for you moms??

I was in the same situation up until about a week ago! Finally we came up with a little schedule that has actually been awesome!! After we are both off of work we go home, start a load of laundry, maybe 2 if we are not too bust with other things (that saves you from having to do a pile of laundry on the weekends) as the clothes are washing I pick up the house everyday, that way on the weekends we only have to dust sweep mop etc. some nights my husband will cook something quick up while im picking up the house feeding and bathing the baby and doing the laundry. Some nights we eat food from the crockpot that I started that morning! (That makes thing SO SO much easier!) Get you a good crock pot cook book and life will be so much easier! I hope this helps some!!!

The best advice I was given when I was feeling overwhelmed and the kids were younger was to do a load of laundry a day instead of all the laundry in one day. Now that my kids are either out on their own or older (he does his own laundry) our two to three loads a week can be done in one day without issue.

It pays to plan, cooking meat ahead only means you are prepared to have a plate of meat. I learned that if I planned meals for every day we never got to all of it and ended up throwing stuff out. So then I backed off to maybe 4 meals a week and made sure I bought all I needed for that (shopping list). Then I'd keep a few other things around that wouldn't go bad and that we could pull out and use or something easy if we didn't feel like going to much effort after a long day. We also made a list of dinners to pick from in case we got stumped one week. I also sometimes make bigger amounts of food over the weekend we can use for leftovers later in the week too.

Thanks Nikki these are some good ideas! Much appreciated on the response! And makes sense to keep up on the laundry daily, we'll def give it a try!
