Toddler still not sleeping through the night!!!

[deleted account] ( 4 moms have responded )

My son, 1 year and 9 months old is still getting up at night to either drink milk or for me to rock him. This is taking a toll on me, as I have to get up early for work. Any tips on how to get him to sleep through the night?!

You might want to try the dreaded "cry it out" technique. He might cry for a few nights, but if doesn't actually need anything, he'll get the message after a couple of days. My daughter doesn't always sleep through the night (she's just over 2), but she has a music box attached to her crib that she turns on in the middle of the night when she can't sleep. It works wonders! Go forbid we should forget the change the batteries when the run down (she can talk well enough to tell us when "its broken" now though). Now we know that when she just can't sleep she plays her music, but when she really needs us (like when she's sick) she'll call out for me.

How long of a nap is he taking in the afternoon. You might want to try to cut back on some of his nap, He may not be tired enough to sleep all night.
