Hello there, I am Devin a proud single mother of a wonderful 4 yr old daughter, Makenzie Laine, I am very lucky to be her mother she is a perfect fit for me. Although, I am not so lucky to have her father as her father. Yes he takes care of her when he is ordered to have her and loves her dearly but I feel that a lot of things are unfair. I work 2 full time jobs and try to stay in school while he goes on vacation, it seems like every month. I am a bartender. sorry for the rant. Nice to hopefully meet and connect with you all.

Hi, my name is Jennifer Wolff. I am a mom of a young adult son and a three year old daughter. My fiancé is an over the road truck driver and we only see him on weekends mostly. We talk all the time and Skype. Our daughter likes to Skype with her daddy but not a talker on the phone. I work a full-time job as well for Walmart. I feel like I pretty much do everything at the store since I use to work in the Photo lab, Toy Dept., and Electronics. The three dept. were considered the same area of the store. I now work in the back room in Receiving but finding that I miss being out in the open area helping customers. I then come home and take care of all the house work and cleaning. My daughter likes to help me do laundry and my son helps with dishes, trash and some other basic cleaning. Of course I have to remind him a dozen times.

Hi, I am a single mom to an amazing 5 (almost 6) year old boy. I work full time as a teacher for student with social cognitive delays (including summers). I recently divorced my husband, he was not there much anyway. I love my work, but sometimes it takes a lot out of me. I try to be there 100% for my son too. Not many of my friends are single moms and no one in my family has every been divorced so I am walking down a new path here. I find it hard to spend time on my self. Guilt and sadness usually prevent me from going out. Since his father left, I don't want my son to feel like I am not going to be there whenever he needs me. It is stressful. Some days are better than others.

My baby is 16 months and my husband never helps me, he either says that diapers make him vomit or he didn't hear me wake him to feed the baby. Either way, he wont do anything that could help me, he thinks a Saturday for 1 hour in the park playing is enough (we are married and we live together).
I've tried to speak to him over and over again but he doesn't take me seriously.
What do i do to make him take me seriously and help out with our son and stop thinking it's a woman's job?

Hello,

I'm a first time mom to a handsome little man, who's nearly 5 months old. I'm a Freelance Photographer, although recently went back to work as a third shift stocker last month. Third shift because hubby works first and we can't afford a sitter and I don't trust daycares.

Just trying to get the experience employers are looking for (as I used to be a full-time student and stay-at-home mom) and I am saving up for a new camera to better my portfolio, so I can leave the night life of a stocker and get back to my passion as a professional photographer. As well as to get back to a healthier sleeping schedule! But until then, a momma's gotta do what I momma's gotta do to achieve those goals for the family. I'm still adjusting to being a working mom, slowly but surely; I often keep pictures of my son on my phone at work to keep me motivated. :-)

Hello everyone.
My name is Melanie. I'm a first time mother to a beautiful 4 month old baby girl, her name is Amelia. I'm a young mother, but under no circumstances does that effect my ability to care for my daughter. I'm engaged to her father and the wedding is set for September 15th of this year :) I work full time as a front desk agent at The Hilton Garden Inn in Lake Oswego, Oregon. This is the second Hilton property I've worked for and boy do I sure love the employee discount. I love my job, I love my daughter, My idea of a good day is one where my fiance and I both have the day off and either get to be lazy with our daughter or fun and adventurous with her.

Hello,
I am a 1st time mom. I have an EBF 5 month old daughter and I work full time. Upon my return to work when she was 7 weeks old, I was stripped of my job duties and my employer attempted to cut my hours and pay.
Since then, my work envrionment has gotten more hostile and they recently changed my schedule wthout notice from 7a-3p to 12p-9p. She is in bed when I get home. I am currently looking for a new job (which takes even more time from her). I am fortunate that they have not said anything to me about my pumping breaks. I made it very clear to them that I knew my rights as a nursing mother.
Does anyone have any advise or mommy tips to make this easier or more tolerable? I am starting to get really down and out about how much I am missing out on with my daughter.

Hi, moms. I have an 8 month old baby and work full time. I also have an 8 year old. Between the both of them, I end up taking a lot of time off work to nurse them back to health when they are sick and can not go to school or day care. I end up losing a lot of pay because I haven't accrued enough sick pay or vacation pay. Does anyone have any tips for me?

Hello, I have a 3 year old and I am finding it difficult to get her to stay in her own bed all night. From a baby she hasn't been a good sleeper and then became ill with recurring chest infection so I think with all that I just let her sleep in my bed so I could keep an eye on her... I know it wasn't the best idea and now I am regretting it deeply as I find it hard now with a bedtime routine. She and her brother used to go to bed at 8pm every night and she went to sleep her in bed but i have to sit next to her bed until she falls asleep :-( but I'd say after a few hours she woke up screaming shouting for me and then would either come into our room if we were in bed or I would have to come upstairs to try and calm her down I've tried to put her back in bed but she just screams and screams so in the end I've always given in and let her either sleep with us or come back down stairs to fall asleep and now she is starting to say I'm not tired anymore at bedtime and will mess for up to 2hours in her room even tho I am sat with her. Can anyone give me some advice. Thanks.

Hello, my daughter turns 14 weeks today, she is having trouble sleeping at night, I have tried a sleep routine, she goes to bed around 730, after eatting 3-4 ounces of breastmilk, then at 10 i get her up to feeding her a tablespoon of oatmeal with 2 ounces of formula, and then adding 2 more ounces of formula just before bedtime. And she still wakes up at 2 to eat.... Help, I need my sleep, I am now back to work, and exhausted....

Makes me feel much better to know that he is in a warm loving set of arms when he can't be with me or with my Husband! I should clarify that I don't hate my job....quite the opposite, actually! Just hate being away from my Son. I am a General Manager for a major Retailer, and travel throughout the Northeast doing new store openings, training sessions, etc., Luckily my home base is 3 miles down the road from home, so I can zip home for snuggle time if I'm having a tough day!

My days can be somehwhat hectic and my kids always keep me on my toes but there is never a dull moment. As you know our jb as a Mother is never finished...... but it pays with great joys:) My Husband world crazy hours to provide for us which I am so grateful for all he does so at times it does get over whelming being alone with the kids. I just joined yesterday. I am a first-time mom of a 7 month old little girl. I work as an accountant full-time and also do some books on the side. I am fortunate to have a very family-friendly work environment because between sickness and a sitter firing, I've already had to miss multiple work days this year. Hoping everything is starting to turn around, between mom guilt and wife guilt, I've been really getting tired of the work guilt too.

I'd love to be able to work part-time, but it just isn't an option, so I just keep playing the lottery and making the most of the time I do get with my daughter.

Great to join this community - due to the nature of my work, I have hours in my day that are crazy-busy, then some lag time where I am usually researching "mom stuff" and I am finding so much of it is directed at SAHMs, so hoping to find good support/ideas/like-minds here!

Hello Ladies,

I am a mom of 2 (Andrew-4yrs and Katelyn-20 month). My husband works more than full time hours and I run my own business from home. I am a broker for a 20 year old company (endorsed by Donald Trump) in telecom and energy and soon to be merchant services. I absolutely love what I do, because I know that I will be able to bring my husband home from his work and we will be financially free and have time to do what we want while our kids are still young. A little about me is I have three boys ages 11,12, 20 yrs of age. My boys are special needs with ADD/ADHD/ODD disorders and also suffer from kidney disease. They require around the clock care and supervision. Now, when I say my boys what I really mean is these are my grandchildren that I am raising which all belong to my daughter Anna. She is currently in school to be an RN and living with me; so I can help out with my grandbabies. I join this group to meet other moms for advice, chat and support.

Hi Amanda,
It sounds like you are not sure if you should stay home or continue working. It is a decision that wiill have positives and negatives for whichever you decide to do. I know this sounds silly, but when I have a difficult decision to make I try to follow my mom's advice. She always told me to grab a piece of paper and make two columns (positives and negatives). When you are finished with your list, you will have your answer staring back at you.

Hi Val,
It sounds like your situation can be frustrating at times. I think it is a great thing that you are working part-time and allowing your child the chance to socialize. I know it is not always the easiest to be away from your child. My only suggestion is to take it one day at a time and make every moment with your child count.

Hi Shemeza,
You are not doing anything wrong at all! It is a hard balancing act between working and raising a child. Your child may be used to one routine with your sister and when you come home she may have a hard time adjusting to your routine. I would ask your sister what she does to calm your child and see if those are things you want to do too. It could also be a basic issue that your child is tired, hungry or needs some playtime. It may help to see about developing a routine for both of you.
I hope this helps! Just remember, your child loves and needs you!

Hi Carol,
I understand how much of a balancing act work, school and child raising can be! The best advice I can give you is to plan and organize your days. I utilize my Iphone, Ipad and old school agenda to keep up with her activities and my obligiations. I utilize alerts on my devices and review what I have scheduled each day in the morning.
I hope this helps! Good luck!

I have some very good and bad news, my sister-in -law takes care of my 18 month old baby girl when i am at work, my daughter really likes her and gives her no trouble at all, which is very good, but onthe other hand ,when i reaches home from work she will fuss and carry on and give me all the trouble. If she is doing wrong and i am talkling to her she will cry and wouldn't let me touch her and just carry on.
I swear i spend all the time i could with her and play with her but she just refuses to get along with me. The only time she is good with me is when i let her have her own way.
What do you gals think about this........

Just got promoted to Engineering Coordinator at the oil and gas company I work for. (yes that sentence was pretty much grammatically incorrect) I will be organizing projects and formatting all technical documents for the designers and engineers as well as keeping in contact with clients and suppliers. This is such a huge deal for me because I have been in document control data entry for the longest time now and I am ready to move forward in my career the way the rest of my life has been progressing these past two years.

Just when I felt like giving up and weighing the pros and cons of working vs. being a stay at home mom this company came through and is helping me accomplish my dreams. :) My fiancee and my daughter will be so proud, even though she's too young to understand right now, I know in the future she will appreciate all that I did for our family. HI! I was blessed with my baby girl last year in June and went back to work 50% in November. Even though I miss her sometimes I know that she is socializing at the nursery and loves it there so after a few weeks of worrying how she would do and feeling some guilt, I am now very happy with this arrangement. The only downside is that I have to work 4 hours every day and commute 30 minutes each way, so all my mornings are busy whether I've slept or not. But on the positive side I get to be with my baby (soon to be toddler) most of the time and I enjoy every moment with her.
I know that both her and I are happy to have some time to other activities than being with each other all the time and her being an only child (for now) she gets to see other babies and toddlers and interact with them.
I am also looking for email penpals so if anyone out there is interested I would be glad to get to know you better. Best wishes to all!
