I actually created my job on a BET! As a performer since age 3 with a degree in Theatre, my skills are quite specific so I usually end up working in a low level office job while auditioning and such. So, a friend suggested that I think of what I know the most about, write up a proposal to teach that subject after school at high schools and see what happens. Thought he was nuts, but I wrote it all up, specialty is Stand Up Comedian (LOL) so I thought nobody would ever contact me. WELL, wrong! The local vocational tech school has a new Performing Arts Major and called me in for an interview! This year part time after school, next year full time all day shop classes AND my class will be a requirement to graduate! HOW AWESOME IS THAT? So, I lost the bet, but get to tell people my job is teaching Stand Up Comedy for high school kids then watching the faces of others. Oh, yes, and I believe great teachers actually work in the field before they should teach anything, so it's a plus that I've not only been a comic on stage (paid) since I was 16, but I've also competed against other schools and have won 1st place in each past competition after 6 years with about 6 meets per year :-). Either the judges had no sense of humor, or I'm doing ok! Love my job!
