What would you do if your office manager gave you a hard time for time off for ob appts?

I am 4 months pregnant and have gestational diabetes and hypertension. I have to go to the ob quite often and they are 1 hour from my hometown. My office manager is always giving me a hard time for taking time off for my appointments. What should I do?

Well, that is considered discrimination of some kind and is not allowed in Equal Opportunity Working Fascilities.
If you have already discussed the matter with your Manager and they are mistreating you. Then you need to cease discussing the matter with them and take it up with H.R.

CONTACT HR!!!!!

THERE ARE OTHER JOBS, BUT YOU AND YOUR BABY'S HEALTH IS IRREPLACABLE!!!

Here are some suggestions to document/deak with the issue;
*Send emails to your manager instead of water cooler discussions and emails are documentable tangible evidence of the mistreatment. (You don't need to do this)
*Make sure you do not have discussions with your Manager in private.
*Do not disrupt the work enviorment with the issue, instead schedual a time to discuss the matter with Manager's Superior as the Manager no longer can be considered as respectful in the matter and has already broken company policy by giving you a hard time.
***Make every effort on your part to be reasonable and comply with company policy as so long as it does not put you or your baby in jeopordy. ***

first you should speak to him directly, if it continues check the greivence procedures for your company, will probably go like this.
1 speak directly to him, follow up with an email ie Mr XXXX following our meeting regarding issues i have about my treatment from you, then its either that your glad you have come to an agreement or that your unhappy that it could not be resolved.
2 take your complaint to he's manager. if you are not able to talk to him directly, again send an email with the original one to him (keep copies of your and any replies from them)
3. if its still not resolved go to HR again following up with email with all the other emails (keep copies)
4 if you do not work for a reputable co and find you get bullied more then you will have to take it outside the company (ACAS) you can get there telephone no on line,
All companies large or small have to follow certain employment laws, one of which is that you have a right to not be bullied at work by anyone and as long as you follow procedures the company have a responsibility to act on those complaints.
Good luck

#1 Get your doctor involved....have him explain your health issues
#2 Find out what your rights are or company policy as far as procedures in taking time off.
#3 Consider a doctor close by
#4 Get upper management involved after discussing your concerns with supervisor

Report them to a higher manager! I am an office Manager responsible for 5 administrators all of which are women. Its your right to have these appointments and you should not be made to feel in anyway guilty or bad about them. If they don't stop, politely explain that it is upsetting you and if it continues to you will speak to their superior. Hope it stops!

In addition to the other ladies' advice, I would request that your doctor write a letter for your employer making it clear that these appointments are necessary not only for the baby's health, but for your health too.

Maybe you can schedule the appts first thing in the morning, then just stay later at work. Or try to get the last appt of the day. That way you're not leaving in the middle of the day.
Is your manager a man?

I am not sure totally what I would do! I think I would first try to sit down with him or her and ask straight out what the problem and talk to him/her! Then if that dose not work I would go above them and talk to that person!!
