I think Amy's idea is good. Have him go on youtube and search around for crafty ideas to do with the kids. My ex makes cookies and stuff with my girls all the time. Does he enjoy it and just trying to get ideas? Or are you wanting him to do this?

I know my husband uses YouTube all the time because there are step by step directions and he's a visual learner. If I'm looking for something I google first and then go shopping.

@Amy, thanks for sharing. Sounds like your husband is quite the creative artist! That's very wonderful. I am trying to figure out how to make it easier for moms and dads to pull together creative projects and activities so that everyone can feel creative and productive. Any thoughts?

I think a lot of men aren't really in touch with their artistic side. My husband is very artistic and creative! He is actually more likely to sit down and do a craft or fun project with the kids then I am. For a while he was a sketch artist for the police department he works at so that just gives you an idea of his drawing ability. The only thing I'm good at is coloring a picture, lol. In the past he's made and decorated gingerbread cookies for my sons entire kindergarten class, he comes up with fun painting projects for the kids to do, and he constantly has them down in the basement working on his latest idea. Currently he's making little kid picnic tables for our friends and their kids, the great thing is he involves the kids.

Because they do not have the first idea on how to go about it and they are frightened to make a mistake. My husband is happy to sit with our 3 year old and make a mess with her as long as I am the one that sets it all up and cleans away after. He quite enjoys it really, but he cant be bothered to instigate it.

I booked him into messy play with our daughter on a Center Parcs holiday and he loved it. I also encourage him to go to be the play group help when it is our rosta turn. (we are lucky as we both work from home) Men just need a swift kick to get going!
