I have a delma I work mon - friday 4-11pm my oldest son gets out of school at 3:30 so I see him for an hour in the morning and 10 mins after school all week long I hate not spening more time with him however if i change my shit it would be 7am-3pm and I would have to get them up at 5:30 in the morning to get them dressed and to daycare or the sitters. i feel awful for having to wake them up that early. So it seems like my best bet is to keep the 4-11 but I need to know how to work out a good balance when it comes to work and my kids. any ideas?

if possible, get help or arrange a schedule with hubby so the kids are taken care of while you work...this way, you can focus on your work and possibly arrange quality free time with the kids. If weekday is really loaded for everyone, just make it up during the weekend

I work 9-5pm but have to leave for work at 8:30am..my kids have to be at the bus stop by 7:45am......I get my kids up at 6am every morning...at first it was a bit hard on them but now they get right up get dressed, eat, and even have time to play a bit before going to the bus stop. So if u still are thinking of switching hrs. then I suggest just a simple ruteen for in the mornings to make it simpler on the kids and u...at first it will be a bumpy road but after a few wks they will have it down and it will work out great.

Getting up at 5:30 is not that bad and the kids will adjust very quickly. Then you have all afternoon and evening with them.

You can dedicate the weekend to your children.

Actually though, waking them up at 5:30am would not be that bad. I have to be to work every morning at 8am, so in order to make it to daycare and work on time [traffic], I wake up for 5:30am. My son, who is 3 months, does not mind it at all. He goes to bed every night at 8:30pm, wakes up once during the night, and is well rested come 5:30am.

It may just mean putting your children to bed a lil earlier, but 5:30am is actually not that bad once you get used to it. Plus, you will have all evenings and weekends go spend with your children..
