Working at home.

I have a WFH Job and a WFH Business...my experience with both...

I have a full time job that I have had for 10 years. I also have a part time business that I started about 7 months ago.

For those of you out there looking for a work from home job - I worked on location for the first 3 years of my employment and feel very fortunate that after those 3 years was able to relocate to home. My husband is a coach and took a different position at the time, and I was allowed to go home based. This has been a great opportunity as we have moved again with my husband's job. Having said all that, it is very common to have to be on location for a few years (at least) before a company will allow associates to relocate to home - and that's even if they have programs that will allow associates to do that. Also, I have never been able to keep my children home with me while I work. It is a company policy. So, for those of you imagining a job where you can work from home (normal hours) and keep your kids, that's probably not something that will come along. You would have to work odd hours (late nights while kids are sleeping) or deal with still having to send them to daycare/sitters. This is why I chose to start my own business from home.

For those of you out there looking for a work from home business - There is a start up fee for any business even if it isn't an at home business. If you were setting up shop outside of your home, you would have start up fees. It has been far more rewarding to me to know that my hard work directly affects my bottom line instead of affecting a major corporations bottom line. No matter how many hours I put in at my job, I still get the same salary. The more hours I put in towards my business, the more rewards I reap in income. I also am very passionate about what I do, and it has been a blessing to my family in more ways than one. My family and I are well on our way to saying goodbye to my full time employment.

I understand there are those out there that need a steady income and a job is what you need. My opinion is, as heartbreaking as it is to leave your children, you may have to leave them to get the income you need to feed/cloth them, pay bills, etc. But invest some of that income back into yourself and family by choosing a work from home business that you can be passionate about. That is where you will find your financial and time freedom. You won't do well in something that you aren't passionate about, so do your research. I was involved with Amway, Primerica, had looked at Pampered Chef, Mary Kay, and Avon, but none of those were right for me.

I believe the best thing we can do for our families as Moms is to be at home and keep things running (which is a full time job in and of itself!). But I also know that sometimes Moms have to bring home some income as well.

Well some at home businesses and jobs might have websites and product packages to send you and some people but sometime all people think that they are scams if you have to pay first.
