I am getting ready to go back to school for law enforcement. In North Carolina you have to pass an agility test called the POPAT. In this test I have to do 40 push-ups. There is a lot other things I have to do in this test and I have everything down except the push-ups. So if anyone has any advice on doing push-ups that will help me please please share. This is the only career I want and the only thing that is stopping me is these stupid push-ups that I have to have down in 7months. Any suggestions??

Hi Brittany! I know lots of people who have done the ChaLean Extreme program and are now able to do pushups. I'm not a Beachbody Coach but you can go to www.beachbody.com to find it.

I actually have someone train me personally and/or I follow the website. We don't have a crossfit gym here. I wish there was. Its the most challenging strength and conditioning program I've tried and honestly, been able to commit to. Checkout the website. It has demos of the exercises as well. But if you can get to the gym, try it and let me know how it is. I will live through you vicariously lol!

Children are a workout :P Lol. And I am saying that only because its easy to talk yourself out of working out because of the amount of work we put into our children. Just don't forget yourself. Exercise regularly so you can keep up with them AND follow your dreams. I'm a huge advocate for exercise, can you tell?! Lol! All the best!

Oh yeah you definitely will! Good luck and I hope all goes well! Sarah, what exactly is the crossfit gym and what all can you do there? We have one near us but it always seems to be closed!

Thank you soo much for the advice!!! This has given me hope lol!! I am getting better but still not there yet. But I have decided to postpone school for a year so I will have time to get back in shape and raise my children. I think I will be able to get them down in that amount of time.

Hi! I love working out, its my favorite thing to do so I have to speak up :P The one thing I always had a hard time with were PUs. I started doing crossfit a few months ago and went through a whole PU training. Anjelica is right, start them off on the wall. Gradually go to lower surfaces until you are on the floor. But don't rush it. Some people find it boring doing it against the wall but your body is getting used to it and still getting a workout. Do them in sets don't try to do as many as you can right away or you'll wear yourself out too soon. I could barely do 5 PUs when I started, now I've been able to do 150 PU in one workout. Don't forget to stretch them out after :)

Thank you!! This helps a lot!! I had started a gym regimen but the past few weeks I have been sick:( But Im getting better so I am hopeing to get back in the gym this week. I was doing a lot of strength training and I enjoy doing it but I still can not do a push up on the ground for anything and it is really worrying me. I am just hopeing that I will be able to do them in April/May.

Practice doing them against the wall or just on the floor, everyday. Also the best thing to do is just do some strength training at a gym; Building all of your upper body (chest, back, shoulders) will help!!
