Who takes 'em? When, why and do you think they work?

I'm not speaking of just diet pills, either. I'm talking about multi-vitamins, specific vitamins, health-supplements, etc!

I used to take green-tea extract in capsule form to aid with weight-loss and I liked the antioxidant benefits, now I just drink organic green tea every morning, but I may take the capsules again sometime.

I'll admit that I have experimented with diet-pills over the years. I have found two that actually work, but I don't recommend them for everyone. I can understand the health-risks involved, especially if you don't know if you have underlying health-issues, or do not take the recommended dosage (overdose.)

I currently take a multi-vitamin before bed, and when I was able to afford them fish oil (for my BRAIN) and B-Complex (for my hair, skin and nails.)

Anyone else?

I had problems with anemia for a good part of my life. I controlled it with iron pills and luckily I didn't have issues with it at the time I became pregnant.

I was taking a health food store brand of prenatal pills. I am now taking vitamins with green tea and a few different herbs mixed in it to help boost fat burning. I am also taking iron pills because I am still anemic.

I nursed exclusively for the first 6 months, and we never had any problems.  My homeopathic doctor highly recommended it and he knew I was nursing.  I started taking it right after I gave birth, so I suppose if it did change anything about my milk my daughter wouldn't have known, but we never had any problems.

Thanks for the reviews Kathryn! The "Change-Ease" sounds interesting, but is it safe for nursing? Or does it change the flavor, scent, etc of your milk?

I take a multi-vitamin with breakfast and glucosamine three times a day for joint support (just recently started by recommendation of my mother for the arthritis that runs in the family.  I'm only 24 and it's already started!), as well as an extra vitamin C booster drink if I'm feeling like I might be coming down with something.

My boyfriend takes all kinds of supplements and other homeopathic remedies, he has been since he was young.  A lot of it does work, I went to my OBGYN and a homeopathic doctor during my pregnancy, and while I didn't take all of the advice/remedies he suggested, I did feel a difference on the regimen he started me on in my energy levels and overall mood.

The one I would recommend for post-pregnancy is called Change-Ease (can't remember the brand, but it's a homeopathic doctor and his picture is on the bottle).  It's supposed to help keep your hormones in balance when going through a major body change, like post-pregnancy or menopause.  I can't say for sure, but I hardly got the baby blues at all and I took it for about the first 6 months.
