1 year old with Strep Throat?

I took my Son to the Clinic last night with a high fever(39.3c) and the Dr. took a throat culture thinking that he has strep throat. I've been reading up on this and it seems to be uncommon in children under 3.

We won't know until later today if he has it or not. Then I guess maybe antibiotics will be given. I know it is extremely contagious if he does have it.

Have any Mom's had to deal with this? Suggestions?

My daughter was diagnosed with hand foot and mouth at around 1 but all she had was sores in her mouth it didn't go away they gave her antibiotics and it went away when her regular doc came back he asked if she'd had sore in her diaper area as well (she did) kids that young can get strep but it generally shows up in the diaper area and as sores in the mouth turns out that's what she had.

I think my son was about 1 1/2 or two, he was really sick and went undiagnosed. maybe he was 2 1/2 but he ended up having strep throat, the doctors didnt even contact me till 2 weeks later. Needles to say I switched doctors.

So my son was not 1 but he was under 3 years old. Make sure its not an ear infection, my son had one and it too went undiagnosed, and again we switched doctors.

If he is sick the antibiotics will help, dont know what else to say though.
