I also don't agree with having sex too young but I am not gonna yell at someone for doing it. To each is own. I waited until I was 18 and a senior in high school before I had sex, I was with the guy I lost my virginity to for 3 years. I don't believe in waiting till you are married cause I don't believe in marriage. The man I am with that I have a child with I have been with for 5 years and he also doesn't believe in marriage.
My youngest sister started having sex at 14 and I blame my parents because they aren't together anymore and they let her do what ever she wants because she knows how to play both sides. Luckily, my mother took her to the gyno and got her on the pill so she doesn't pregnant but I don't believe she should of started having sex at such a young age.

I do not agree with children having sex. Its just plain sick. I also like the comment someone posted about a young mom with a million kids, smoking and pushing an umbrella stroller. Its deffinately a typical scenario. Some moms on here, have said they had sex young and they find nothing wrong with it and they were still able to go on to finish highschool and all this in that. Those women need to count there blessings. I mean seriously Look at 16 year olds who have sex generally. Most dont have that wonderful story to tell. WHy would you put yourself through such a hard thing, Just to fit in or make your 16 year old boyfriend happy? Why is waiting getting harder and harder for young girls? Once you give it up, its just not as special. I applaude the girls who managed to get lucky enough to have a guy to stay with them 16 and knocked up, and who are still with them. Because most teenage moms DONT get that lucky. There are some on here that dont see anything wrong with having sex young because they did and blah blah blah and they are still with the babies dad. TO THOSE WOMEN: i dont think you should be giving advice.

Its not like you would be regretting your child by acknowledging your mistakes and learning from them.

i DONT think kids should be having babies! its not easy you give up alot! i personaly had sex at 16 but i know what could happen and i was very very careful! i didnt sleep around with lotz of guys infact it was one guy and we where together for 3 years! i know i WASNT ready emotionaly, mentaly and i was still in the "me" stage of my life!

iam going to be turning 26 in sept and i have ONE kid and he will be 1years old in 9days :D my husband and i have been together for 7.5 years!

we had goals we wanted to acheive before we decided to start trying to have a baby!

1) we wanted to own a house

2)have money in the bank

3) we BOTH wanted to have a car/truck each

4) be married

5)and be in our mid to late 20's

not in that order but we achived our goals!

iam so so proud that i waited and knew what i wanted and stuck to my guns!

my sister had her kidz young and she is a great mom her and her husband both work have a van they have their own place and NOT on wellfare!

my point is everyone makes their own choice we may not agree but its their choice but if they can handle it and arent living off taxpayers money or mommy and daddy who are we to judge!

as for the snotty faced koolaid drinking kidz come on "parents" way to rote your kidz teeth out! and i know of GROWN ass adults that do this and feed their kidz nothing but KD and mr nooles! give you head a shake a feed your kids good heathly food!

I have 2 foster kids in my daycare both have FASD and their 25 year old birth mother has 10 kids total, none of them multiples and all of them in foster care with FASD! another reason why teens should not be having sex. common sense tells you dont drink while pregnant (and I know some of you will openly disagree and feel no shame) but teens dont have the reasoning center in their brains fully developed to realize that 1+1=2 or alcohol and pregnancy= FASD child. Lol I love it! I definanlty agree with Jamie on this! I have friends that have done everything from waiting until they were married and some had kids at 15! I don't think physical their bodies are developed enough, and mentally they are definantly not ready for it! And marriage at 16!! You have to be kidding!! Enjoy being a teenager and live more of a care free life!! Don't have sex unless your ready to have kids because birth control does not always work!!!! If you want to have kids early, wait until your 18, a couple years won't kill you! It's amazing how much you mature in 2 years. I have asked a lot of moms who had married young, when they get older they almost always wish they would have waiting a couple years, got their diploma, maybe some college, and enjoyed being young and care free.

Me and my partner starting having sex at 16, i was on pill and we were using condoms. I got pregnant at 17 but had him when I was 18. My pill stopped working (still dont know why) and it started to mess up my body so wasnt even sure if id be able to have more kids. I could NEVER get an abortion so decided to keep him. I completed 2 years at college, got my qualifications and my partner had a good job with a good wage being a manager from the age of 16 so would you say we were stupid? As soon as we were both 18 we went out and got a mortgage and bought our own house, we both work now and recieve no benefits. Well, honestly, if you took a poll I think that most of the moms in this group may have had sex earlier than they would want their own children to. I don't think it should be viewed as such an interesting thing to teens and that trying to ban it from them or refuseing to educate them on it just makes it more interesting and disireable.

Teens should be taught that sex is only for commited relationships especially if it is for the first time because it can be very painfull and frusterating at first. For some people this means marriage but for most this means being with some one for over a year. Most teens will feel ready by the time they have a long term relationship reguardless of age and that is why as parents we should wait untill they are at least 16 before letting them go on dates. By 16 most teens are responsible enuf to wait if they are just starting to date, but if they have been dateing at a younger age than they may have developed some bad habits that would lead to childhood sex.

I waited till I got married because to me that is what a commited relationship is, marriage. My parents didn't just tell me not to have sex, they reminded me of the dangers of tempation every time they saw the red flags come up and I am thankfull for them.

I don't think anyone should label young girls as sluts. Just do what you can to fully educate them. They need to learn, how to aviod a tempting situation, how to use a condom, and how to communicate with their parents about sex. Don't asume that your child is some how safe and sheltered because there is no such thing as a sheltered child unless you live on your own little island.

If it's a matter of should or shouldn't, no I don't think that you should be having sex before you think you are responsible enough. And that means ANY AGE. I did start having sex at 17 though. I had been working for 2 years and I was about to finish high school. No, we didn't get pregnant until after we married, but it could easily have happened even though we were careful and did use protection. I was on bc and he wore a condom, but still...shit happens. The only thing I don't agree with is that you can judge someone just because you weren't the same way. It's not like these girls are saying "i'm going to sleep with a whole bunch of guys and try to be a teen mother!" I mean, come on. Things aren't as old fashioned as they used to be. I've only been with one guy and I married him. We're still together after 7 years. I married young and had a child young but I don't regret any of it. If I HAD gotten pregnant at 17, why would someone I don't even know judge me?

Just because you start having sex before you are old enough to "get into a club or sign a lease" does not mean you're a slut. It does not mean you are stupid. As a matter of fact, my best friend got pregnant and had a child at 16. She still with the same guy and they waited for 7 yrs before they got married b/c they didn't want to marry just because she got pregnant. Her second child is now a year old, she finished high school and she is 2 classes away from her associates degree. So she is stupid b/c she had a child at 16? No. So she was a slut? No. She had only ever been with her now husband.

No 16 year olds shouldnt be having sex, but what makes it worse is that they dont use protection or contraception. I was with my partner for 15 months and was on the contraceptive pill, unfortunately i got pregnant at the age of 16. I wasnt a stupid hoe, i have also worked for the past 12 years to support my own child. even though his father and i are no longer together he has him as often as he can and supports him. my child is intelligent, polite and has aspirations. Please dont put us all in the same catergory, as we are all different, I have not had and can not have anymore children so i think i was blessed with this child, even though it wasnt meant to happen, it happened.

Well I had my baby at 16, and I think its a personal choice and no one should tell someone they shouldn't have sex.
I love my son, and I'm a great mother.

As for the can't sign a lease crap - I know so many adults who fit into that category.

I am not on welfare and I now many 40 yr old woman who are on welfare, do they need it.

yeah I know a few 40 yr olds like that to and to be honest they shouldnt have sex either, in my opinion. and I do want to add that just because someone becomes a mom or dad at 16 doesnt mean they will be a shitty parent. I also know some teens who are wonderful parents, cant provide financially for the kid but are great parents otherwise but I guess there are exceptions to every rule.

Jesus, that should tell you right their, if you cant afford maternity clothing then don't have sex and get knocked up.
I dont think everyone should wait until marriage, each to their own with that but they should wait until they are capable in all ways to handle the consequences.

Ok i have to agree with both side's! 16yr olds yes are children but do have a mind of their own and know full well what their doing! But on the other hand are still young and very influentual. I'm 20 in 4months, have a 4month old and been with my fiance for 2yrs, He was my first sexual relationship and i was alomst 18. Today's society seems to be made up of children having children that's the wrong thing! i no i'm not going to stop my son from having sex when he's ready cause it's just not possible but i will make sure he no's exactly what he's doing and the conseqences that could arise. Quoting Brandy " You will regret it when something happens to you", i agree you can argue the point as much as you want and bad mouth these kids but what happens if your child grows up and does the same thing, there's no way to stop them unless you lock them up until 21 which is illegal not that i think anyone would just making a point! maybe they should make it legal to make girls get a permeanent but removable contraception. Not saying it's all the girls fault, boys need to take some of the reasponsability aswell!!!

Oh goodness, I first had sex at 17 and it seemed like I had waited SO LONG, so at the first opportunity I went for it. I know, I know, slutty mcslutterson. I admit it. There were many people I should have never had sex with. I was lucky enough to not have fallen pregnant at an early age, cause I would not have done well.



16 year olds are, generally, going to have sex! The best to hope for is that they are in a caring relationship and practice safe sex, because having a baby isn't easy when you haven't finished high school. I know a number of girls who shouldn't have children. I also know a number who have become some of the greatest, most caring mothers ever. It all depends on the person.

LOL this is gonna be interesting !! personally i think having a child at 16 is too early but waiting to be married to have sex is silly , im not married but have been with my partner for 5 years and am engaged to him but we are in no hurry , unless thats part of your religious beliefs its not nessecary , a lot of people do not get married at all ! as long as you are both mature enough and are ready to take on the responsibility then go for it , i just dont feel a 16 year old is ever ready for a child , which is a consequence of sex .
