my 4 month has taken to sucking on his fingers, I don't mind that normally, but he has now taken to shoving his fingers so hard he pukes. Is there anything I can do to stop him from doing this?

My little man does this too sometimes, but it's not on purpose. Mine is almost 4 months old too and it's important to know that they are learning so much about the world around them. They explore through all five senses. Your baby has discovered his fingers and has also discovered that he can put them in his mouth! This is a milestone-albeit a frustrating one when it involves such a mess sometimes! Mine did this at 4 in the morning one day! :( Mittens are probably best and if he can grasp a cold cloth it might be easier than a ring at this age.

Hey my little guy does the same thing, but i think he might be teething. He is just over 3 months. He's constenly sucking on his thumb or fingers. He hasn't done the puking thing yet but he has gagged on his fingers a couple of times.

Is he teething? That might be why the extra sucking and shoving of fingers. I give my kids a cold damp wash cloth and it helps. Orajel at night helps to numb the gums so they will sleep and not do this. My son and one of my girls used to do this too.

Sorry! I thought your post said 4 YEARS old! Nevermind! Hopefully a little 4 month old will grow out of it eventually. Put those cute little mits over his hands!

Is he doing it out of anger? Like a temper tantrum? If so, my mom always said LET THEM! Meaning, still don't give in to what they fussing about! If he is just accidentally doing it, try to stop the finger sucking habit...hmm...maybe keep him busy with handheld games of some sort. Just some ideas, good luck!
