4 month old not quite sleeping through!

I was so lucky with my first, he slept for 12 hrs at night when he was around 3 months old he also had 2x 2 1/2 hr naps during the day... Now with my second he has been an awful sleeper. I would be lucky for him to sleep for 2 hrs at a time, he refused to take a dummy so it was impossible to get him back to sleep sometimes. As he has gotten older i have found him getting better each day. He is now 5months old and has finally settled into a routine. He goes to bed at 6:30pm and wakes at 1am for a feed then again at 6;30am goes back to sleep and is awake at 8am. He will have a morning nap at 10:30am sleep til around 12:30pm then another nap around 2:30 til around 4pm. I swear by the nice warm bath before bed and I also use the Johnson baby bedtime bath, my son also has 3 feeds of solids throughout the day as well as bottles. I hope he starts sleeping through soon for you!!! :)

You are LUCKY! Be grateful. My 6 mo. gets up at about 2 a.m. and wants to play for a couple hours (in his crib) before he goes back to bed, only to wake up for good at 6 a.m.

My doctor told me with my daughter to stop with night feedings after the first month and that she would get enough during the day. I used a pacifier with my daughter and would give her the pacifier rub her back, and sing to her but not pick her up. By 5 weeks she slept through the night. She is now 17 mos and a great sleeper at night.

Thanks to everyone for tips and comments, I'll just continue as I am for now, from some comments I've realised I'm actually v lucky to get as much sleep as I do! Thanks again xxx

At 4 months she is only waking up once , you should consider yousrself lucky. My son still wakes up once or twice and he is 13 months old

my son is 8 months old and still wakes once a night to eat. i'm not forcing it, he'll sleep through the night when he's ready to. i don't really mind it as i have to wake up once a night to express milk for him anyway.

Likely...only time will solve that issue. That's totally normal for them to still wake up once or twice at 4 months...my first child woke up once or twice a night until 10 months old. Waking up only once during a 12 hour sleep cycle is actually really great for a little one. Hang in there, sleep will happen soon :)

That to me sounds really good for that age My first at 2 months slept for 6 straight hours at night and our second took forever she was still waking (not for a drink or to eat just waking) long after her first birthday. My advice would be to wait a litle longer it sounds like it will happen easier then you think. if she is hungry she is going to unfortunatly wake up. I am sorry I can't be of much help she may just one day surprise you and sleep all night.

It's pretty early for her to be sleeping through the night, especially since around this time the 4 month sleep regression could be in effect. Unfortunately there isn't much you can do to make a baby sleep through the night, the fact is that most don't sleep right through until much later. You could try baby massage, some light aromatherapy as suggested above. Also, technically sleeping 5 hours without interruption is sleeping through the night, which your daughter is already doing.

my son is almost 5 months and i have tried everything to get him to sleep through the night. each baby is different so maybe some of these tips will help u. give him a tablespoon of rice cereal right before or after, u nurse or formula feed at least 6-8 oz of milk. johnson and johnson also has a new bed time bath that u cld use. my friend swears by it. keep her up more during the day...less naps and try bathing her at 8 and then putting her to sleep...i hope at least one of these tips might help
