I am happy for you. A wonderful mothers day gift. My youngest, rohan was brought home on valentines day. Aren't they adorable?!! *snickers* Soon you will be saying.... "oh no... she's crying.... your turn honey" at least I think you will.

That's brilliant, my first son was a 4 and 1/2 hr labour, all the midwives kept coming to see me cause they couldn't believe I'd been that quick. I now have 4 sons, my youngest is 2 1/2 weeks old, was only 2 hrs in labour.

Induction isnt as bad as people make out. It can bring it on alot faster. But it isn't dangerous to the baby or you.

i was 41 weeks when i went into labour....its perfectly normal he will come in due time and if not they will induce you if they think the placenta is depleted nothing to worry about enojy your last days being pregnant and pamper yourself

She's here!!!!! Born on Mother's day at 10:15am! 8lbs 2oz

Time to share my story, Saturday I spent the evening doing all those little things momma's do to naturally induce. I went for a long walk, had sex, ate pineapple, bounced on a excerise ball and yes -__- even drank castor oil (I'm guilty! yuck!) now I don't know if it was because of those things or really just here time to shine but the next morning at 5:45 my contractions started. They were so bad i'd curl up on the floor in agony. I called the hospital they told me to wait a couple hours just to be sure (of course I'm sure!!) We ended up leaving the house at 6:30 and arrived by 7. When the nurse checked me shortly upon arrival I was already 8cm dialated! After lots of moaning and complaining and questions I got my epidural and fluids it changed everything! They broke my water gave me some ice chips and I was all ready to start pushing an hour after that! The whole pushing process took 30 mins after a 4hour labor(I know I am sooo lucky) she was born at 10:15 am with her father there to cut her cord. I honestly don't know how I manged to push her out so fast but it was incredible and I bared down and gave it my all! I'm actually still in the hospital right now posting this from my phone :P I couldn't wait to share the news! Took lots of beautiful pictures anyways thank you ladies again for all the support and help! Though I didn't end up getting an induction all the information and stories really prepared me and all in all id say it was an amazing expericene. Lol I'll be holding off any furture babies for a while though :P aah I love her! What a great mother's day gift!

I was induced with my first at 41 weeks, only because my ob was on call that day, but going out of town for the weekend and wanted to be the one to deliver me. It was no big deal, they broke my water, hooked me up to an iv, but I still wasn't dilating very much, so they recommended an epidural so they could up the drip and it wouldn't bug me. In all I was in labor for maybe 10 hrs start to finish, which is considered pretty quick for a first baby. Usually in my area they won't induce for medical reasons until 42 weeks, but some places will let you elect to induce after 38 weeks. Inducing is said to up your chances of more invasive procedures such as c-sections, but in my case, it went fine. I'll be 38 weeks along tomorrow, so I guess I have a very comfortable uterus too, but I'm not planning an induction at this point. Hope this helps.

You could still have about 1 to 2 weeks left. due dates are not exact and there are always variances. You could go naturally, yet. My son's due date was the Jan. 23 2009 and I had him Jan. 26 2009. ALL NATURALLY.

I was induced at 8am and had my little girl at 10:45pm that night :-). congradulations and dont worry everything will go fine! just think a little longer in there can't really hurt them only make them cuter :-)

I was induced. Honestly, it's not a big deal. For me they did a weaker method not using pictosin at first. It was essentially a show string like thing they put inside to try and jump start pregnancy. It didnt work though, so they ended up using pictosin. Honestly, induction doesn't hurt. its the labor part that hurts. So, dont worry about it. It wont affect the baby, other than getting it out! lol

my ma was 9mos 3wks 3days pregnant with my oldest brother. his due date was dec 13th, his eviction date was set for jan 7th but he ended up choosing to come out on his own jan 6th. my middle brother came a wk early. and i was 2wks 1day late with a due date of jan 2nd and an eviction date of jan 17th.....i was evicted, didn't wanna come out!!!

with my son i chose to be induced because i was given 2 different due dates and i didn't wanna play the guessing game of guess when he decides to come. i evicted him feb 15th; my dates were feb 9th (brook army medical center) and feb 19th (women's specialty care).

i was 40wks and 2 days, had an appointment, and when i went in for it they scheduled induction for the next day. i went home and started labor on my own. they will probably schedule an induction soon, if baby doesn't start doing things on their own, but things may start cooking too. either way you have way less to go than you've come! good luck!! ;)

you don't HAVE to do anything... it's your baby and your body, as long as you're ok with waiting it out, you don't HAVE to be induced... Baby will come out when ready!

I wasn't induced but my first child was 12 days late and my second child was 5 days late. I had a c-section with the first one and a vbac with the second.
I think being scared is natural. I was scared both times, but I don't think and induction is anything to worry over.

hi there
i was induced as my daughter decided to burst my waters 6 weeks early so they had to bring on the contractions.
although i had nothing to compare it to as she was my first it really wasnt as bad as i thought it was going to be.
am pretty sure from friends experiences they let yo go no later than 14 days over your due date and they give you sweeps to try to star you off before anything
good luck it will be worth it in the end x

I won't give you my induction story, but if my suggestion is if you can hold out, let her come when she's ready! I was induced at 42 weeks and had a horrible time! :) Luke is healthy and happy now, but it wasn't go good when he was born. She'll be here when she's ready! Good luck!! It's not as scary as it seems!

I was induced at 38 weeks with my son and I loved it!!! It gives you the mental preparation and time to relax. I've never had my water break so I don't know how it it. I've also didn't go natural, I had the epidural. If you feel comfortable doing it then that would be your best bet. The Dr's can't make you wait much longer, you can only go 1 week over is what I was told. They say your placenta stops working properly after 41 weeks so it shouldn't be much longer :) Get plenty of rest!! You're going to need it!! Hope this helped a little!
I do recommend being induced to anyone who asks :)

i was induced with my last 2 children and it seemed pretty close to labour with my first just quicker:) I've heard that you can go up to 42 weeks if the baby and you are doing well, for example i had hypertension so i was induced early. Congratulations and hope you get to meet her soon!!!

Getting induced is nothing.... I had to be with my first 2 children. The only funky thing about it is that you feel like you're peeing yourself...lol I know it sounds wrong but it does.... you have nothing to be worried about, if they have to induce then you just think of it as the quicker you'll get to see your little one..... Good Luck!!!! and Congrats....

My baby didn't try to escape until 41 and a half weeks, so just give it some time. My doctor threatened induction and he came the day before the scheduled induction. So maybe just a little threat to scare your baby out might work!

I will agree with a lot of these ladies and tell you to try and not stress too much. Most OBs let you go to 42 weeks unless there is something concerning and they feel the baby needs to come out soon. Even if you go into labor on your own you may still need to be "induced" to help finish your labor. With my son, I got stuck at 4cm so they gave me pitocin to help me fully dialate and it worked like a charm! Best of luck to you and you will be holding that sweet girl soon!

I was induced after I was 8 days late. I was miserable, and I wanted my baby girl out! lol. I was in labor for about 12 hours, got the epidural after about 8 hours or so, then it was smooth sailing from there. I almost liked it better that I was induced because I didn't have to worry about going into labor being somewhere else and knowing when it was going to happen without having a csection scheduled. i'm a total planner, so since I didn't want a csection, being induced and knowing when it was finally gonna happen was great for me :)

I went into labor 6 days past my due date with my first and then was induced with my second 10 days after my due date, because although i was having contractions, I was not progressing at all. I decided with my third and fourth that i wanted to be induced on my due date. My doctor was fine with that and we scheduled the inductions. The inductions were actually less painful and less stressful than when i went into labor on my own. With my first it felt like a crazy insane painful scary time with the 3rd and 4th - i was rested, i watched a movie while labor progressed and with in 5 hours of checking in at the hospital, my children were born. I know as a first time mom, inductions can be scary, but for me - all my inductions have been good experiences

i was two days late with my little one at 22 years old. the morning of my scheduled induction well lets say i was there 5 hours early i was scheduled for 8 am i was there at 3 am. i went into labor on my own around midnight didn't realize it cause i all i felt was some serious back pain that seemed very incurable. maybe an hour or two after that i found myself getting ready to go to the hospital. it works out eventually

they were not inducing me for medical reasons my doctor felt it was in better interest to induce. my SO had to take off to take me to my appointment for my 40 week appt which conviently landed right on my due date so she decided to induce so he could take his five days that were left to be home to help me recoup. he had this time already planned out and so i would have help at home she did it next day.

im a pain baby the things i feard was emergency c section and epidural which i had anyways i only got though half of 15 hours labor with out it. i would have put both me and the baby at risk if i had continued with out. there was no way i would have pushed/ delivered, i went into labor with out sleeping. i had been up for 17 hours with out sleep when i hit natural labor. i couldn't rest i kept passing out between contractions from exhaustion and waking up in pain every time another would come and i was only at 80 % contraction strength according to the monitor. .

I will not lie here. I was induced with my first child and it.....well....it sucked! All in all the process took 2 days. Now I'm not saying I noticed a difference in pain, that's not it at all. The biggest pain of being induced was just having to be there in the hospital waiting for something to happen. I tell you this because my second child came naturally, but that also took 18 hours! Everyone is different. Some people get induced and it can still all happen quickly, some people have natural births and that can happen fast too. I just am impatient lol. So have they said how they will induce you? There are different methods and I think I had the softer of them...which was a cervadil insert (did I spell that right?). I think other methods, from what other moms have said, make labor more painful? Well, I don't care how it's done, it hurts lol. But I always look back on my childbirth memories just as two short experiences in a very long lifetime. They are over now and look what I got in return!

try & relax. yeah i no its not easy. i was in ur shoes 8 weeks ago. i have had 4 lil boys & 3 different labours. my 1st was 9days late & no induction 42 hours. my 2nd & 3rd (twins) were by c-section. my 4th was by induction 12days late, they boke my waters & it all happened by its self from then & it was my best labour 7hours from start to finish. i no its a scary moment as ur not sure wots goin 2 happen or wot the doctors r gonna do but just try & relax, i found i started gettin more braxton hicks while i was relaxed & was told by my midwife that the majoity of labours start by braxton hicks & progress which i didnt no before. best of luck hope it all goes well & u get the labour/birth u want x

My midwife always told me that "healthy women carrying healthy babies have to endure ALL of their pregnancy." Both of mine were after my due date, but I was not induced. For me, I really wanted a vaginal un-medicated birth and being induced makes an un-medicated birth next to impossible (and increases the chance for c-section). It sucks waiting, but I had fantastic labors and deliveries with both of my kids... 3 and 5 days after my due date.

If you're going to have an Epi, don't worry about it! I've heard the first is generally the toughest and an induction can make things more painful, but if you have painkillers, you literally don't hurt at all once it kicks it. I had a pitocin drip to speed things along after I got an epidural, but didn't feel a thing. Other than some slight pressure when I was having a contraction, and some weight when he was coming out. It was bliss after two days of natural agony, lmao

Blessed Be

I was induced and it wasn't bad at all. The contractions get pretty bad (worse than if you're not induced from the power of the Pitocin from what I understand, but I don't know) but I got an epidural and it was perfect. The epidural worked exactly like it was supposed to, took away the pain but I still felt the urge to push. I started Pitocin at 6AM and my daughter was born at 3:36 PM, with only an hour and a half of pushing, not to bad for my first labor. All in all I would absolutely do it again if I needed to.

You can refuse an induction.
If your doctor insists on scheduling it then just don't show up. There isn't anything they can do about it.
If your wanting an unmedicated all natural birth this is what I suggest.
But if you intend to have an epidural then you can induce without much fear as you don't have to worry about coping with the pain of the stronger and harder contractions that pitocin brings on. But I would still wait until you've been pregnant at least 41 weeks, just in case your EDD is a little off.

There's ways that you an be induced that will help baby come but are natural. Like a chiropractic adjustment acupuncture. They won't cause you to go into labor if baby isn't ready.
