My 5 month old daughter has been running a fever for 2 days and I don't see any teeth coming in! She has a doc appoinment today. She still eats some and drinks some but she doesn't act like her mouth is bothering her. I'm beginning to think it's not teething! What is it???

A frozen banana may be better than a popsicle, it'll be harder to chew, and it's much better than the sagger in the popsicles!

Good luck!

Thank you all for your posts...I took her to the doc today but the she doesn't know what is going on with her. Even took a rsv test to check for it. Right now she's still crying and I have already given her tylenol and some orajel...I'm thinking to give her an Popsicle to help her tooth.....Wish me luck!

She could also have an ear infection as well. My son gets a slight fervor with ear infections (A quick chiropractic adjustment and the next day he's back to normal!).

Also with teething, our son would teeth for days before the teeth break though. He's also get a fever sometimes when his teeth are moving.

Hey Sherri,

It is very possible that your daughter has a stubborn tooth, but she would most likely show signs of a sore mouth, if it was teething. Is there a possibility that your daughter may be sick? Maybe the fever is not from teething. Your doctor will be able to clarify that for you. If it is teething, one good method to try is to put a CLEAN, damp facecloth in your freezer, let it get hard and give it to your daughter to chew on. The cold from the cloth will soothe her sore mouth, and the stiffness with help to push the tooth closer to the surface of her gums. Good luck, I hope she's feeling better soon!!!

teething shouldn't include running a fever. she probably has a cold or something. ask your doc today when you see them. :)
