My 5 month old has been coughing and has a stuffy nose, what can i give him or do to make the cold go away before it gets worse?

there is no medicine that a baby can have, besides tylenol but ask the pedi first. Cool mist and not having the room to hot or to cold worked best for me, avoid baths when the house is cool, it makes it worse.

There is an all natural cough syrup you can use; it is for children ages 0-9years. It is called Phytux H Cough & Cold. There is also another natural product called Cordzylia (I believe that's the correct spelling) that you can give him. It helps to clear up the stuffy nose and is safe for babies. I use both of these for my daughter and I've found that they work quite well. Hope this helps and that he is feeling better soon!

only time will make the cold go away. for now you can sit in the bathroom with him and let the shower run, make sure its hot water that way the steam will build up and it will help with the coughing and his nose. i do this for about 10-15 min. this always helps my kids sleep better when sick. good luck

My son is 4 1/2 months I am going through the same thing. He just had a fever and it was really scary! I have heard that a vaporizer works good and to use saline spray in their nose before suctioning it out with a bulb. If he does get a fever give him tylenol. After giving my son Tylenol he came full circle within an hour :) Other then that give him lots of luv :)

5 months is so young to be giving anything with out talking to the dr. When my little one did that, I put a humidifier in her room and propped her up to sleep. It helped. Also, I used a saline solution and bulb to suction out her nose right before bed time. The coughing subsided in a couple of days and the icky snots went away not much later! Hope that helps some! :)

This is rough at that age, but make sure he stays hydrated and just make him as comfortable as possible. I had the same issue when my son was about this age so I feel for you!

use a cool mist humidifier in his room tonight while he's sleeping, at that age there aren't any medicines to give so i always used vick's also, just rub it on his chest, not too much but that should help a bit.and you can always use "Little Noses" brand saline spray/drops, those are ok for infants. hope i've helped and good luck.
