my 5 year old daughter has a little 5 year old boyfriend. I thought she would get over it, but it's been months & all she does is talk about this boy & how she's going to marry him & their going to have babies when they grow up & get married! he buys (or should I say his mother) my daughter clothes, toys & movies. They even have playdates. Is this normal at her age to be so attached to a little boy? Is this going to lead to a problem in the future?

my nephew is 5 and doing the exact same thing. He was like that with this one girl Kylie. They were also goin to get married and have babies...he never saw her through the summer but it was still his girlfriend. He even had their wedding planned. Where it was goin to be..who was goin to be there. I was pregnant at the time and wasnt sure what i was having..he liked this little girl so much he wanted me to name my baby Kylie if it was a girl. He eventually forgot about her but has moved on. He actually asked another little girl in his class Patty to marry him. She said no and he was actually really upset by it. I think it's something all kids go through. I really wouldnt worry too much about it!..

I agree that it is normal... My son is 7 and he will tell you that he and his girlfriend have been together since she was born (they are six months apart).  He is attached and faithful to her....we don't even live close to her anymore.  He is slowly letting go and starting to court a new girlfriend now.   I think they just need that attachment!  My little girl's first boyfriend was her daycare provider's eldest son (18!)  She would love on him more than anyone else!! LOL

It is perfectly normal don't worry about it my son is 5 now and he's had the same girlfriend since he was 3.  He also has a couple of others these days :) It doesn't mean the same thing to them as it does to adults.

I remember doing the same thing as a a child, pretty much most kids when I was little had that special someone.

As they get older they may grow apart nd you may have a few tears but is that really so bad?  It just means they learn to deal with the break down of  'relationships' it never did me or anyone I know any harm and kids are more resiliant than adults.

I have the same problem!  My daughter came home from kindergarten last year telling me about her boyfriend.  They were both 5 then.  I thought it was just play fun, but they are still together and it is halfway through first grade.  I found out that he was kissing her last year and I had to tell him that I did not want him kissing my baby.  The teacher taught them how to sign I love you so they do it all the time now.  They hold hands whenever the teacher isn't looking.  He bought (or his mom, as you put it) her a purse and a lot of earings.  They even pinky-promised to get married.  I've just been waiting it out, but I wondering how long this is going to go on.  I don't know if this is normal.
