My 7 month old baby always goes down to sleep around 7pm and wakes up at 7am. She has slept through the night since she was about 2 months old, then she started waking up once in the night for a bottle when she was around 4 months. Now that she has been eating 3 meals a day, I thought she would start sleeping through the night again. She wakes up nearly every night at 2am. Any ideas?

My son is nearly nine months old, eats and sleeps like a champ so when he starting waking up hungry at around three I was shocked and did not know what to do. My mom suggested feeding him a bowl of cereal and his bottle before bed and now we have peace and harmony in our house again and bedtime means bedtime for all of us!

Babies' sleep patterns change as their bodies change and the best thing to do for your baby is to just go with it. Her instincts are telling her that she needs that bottle so just let her have it. She is still a baby and it is perfectly normal for her to continue waking this long. Some babies don't sleep through the night until they are almost 2. My daughter was breastfed so she woke 2-3 times a night until she was 8 months old. There's nothing wrong with it.

My 5 1/2 month old is doing the same thing. I put her to bed between 9 and 10 at night and make sure she has a full 6 to 7 oz bottle and some rice cereal in her before, but it still doesn't work. She wakes up between 5 to 7 in the morning, hungry. My husband says it's just because she wants to see her daddy before he leaves for work, which is real cute and all, but she does it even when he is gone or not getting up on the weekends. She is such a light sleeper anyways and she has a hard time keeping down a 6 to 7 oz bottle. I'm afraid to give her any more than that. My oldest was never like this. I'm a mom that needs her sleep to keep my sanity during the day.

I think they just go through sleep phases, my son would sleep through the night for a while, and like yours, he started to wake up once between 2 & 4. I'd change him & give him a bottle & he'd fall right back asleep. He's just about 10 months old now & now he's been sleeping through the night for a while. I put him to bed now between 9 & 9:30 and he usually sleeps until between 9 & 10 the following morning. I think if you just give her time she'll start sleeping through the night.

hmmm... if she takes a bottle while she is falling asleep try putting a little of the oatmeal or rice cereal in it...and maybe warm it up a tad to see if that helps (especially if she is on whole milk and if she's not on whole milk try a little and see how that works) good luck!! i know it is frustrating!! and if its not a hunger issue then try keeping her up a little bit longer and really tiring her out....it may be that she just isnt sleep anymore at 2...
