You can get saline drops at any drug store. There are brand names like "Ocean" or you can just get the generic; they are all the same stuff. You just put one or two drops in each nostril and then suck it all out with the bulb syringe. He won't like it at all, but it's good for him. =)

babies sometimes just have a "stuffy nose" your baby is only 3 weeks old and has a chance of just still having amniotic fluid and all that still in his lungs (babies born by c-section have more of this problem then natural birth babies but it's not uncommon for them too). I'd say wait a while they will sometimes have sneezes because of this too.. He is so young to determine anything yet unless he is running a fever I wouldn't worry to much for now.. Use some saline drops for his nose and possibly a nose suringe (you know that blue bulb thing - sometimes they are white too.. My daughters call it a booger sucker..lol) You could also place him in the bathroom with you when you take a shower in the evening it could help relive some of the suffyness.. If you become very concered take him in to his dr... Never feel something is too silly to take your baby in for care... Because it's never too silly when your a worried Mommy just means your a great and loving Mommy...

Try sitting him up to sleep in a car seat or something. Try the nasal drops to clear out his nose. It could be the dog but a lot of times children dont develop allergies when they are so young. talk to your doctor, I wouldn't give a child benedryll unless the doc says its okay.

Thanks ladies! I've been using a humidifier but now it's starting to give him heat rash so I hope I don't have to use it much longer...where can I get the saline drops?

Please do not give infant benadryl without talking to your doctor. 3 weeks old is too young to give any type of medicine like that. I definitely agree that using a humidifier might help. If it's a cold, it should go away within the typical 5-10 days. If it is an allergy to your dog, it will be more persistent. There is a simple skin test that an allergist can do, but I don't know if your son may be too young for that yet. To help relieve his stuffy nose, use saline drops and a bulb syringe to clean out his nose really well before you lay him down. Saline drops are just salt water, so it's pretty much impossible to overdose, so it is safe to use at a young age.

I have a 4 month old and I think he has allergies too, We do not have a dog but he does the same thing and I asked his Dr and he seems to think that is what it is. He doesnt cough or get a fever or have green snot which is a sign of infection. You can try to prop your baby up a little bit but not with anything that will suffercate them such was a soft pillow or blanket. Also using a humitifyer in the room will really help.

You can puchase some infant benedryll at your local store. Try given it to him and see if his stuffy nose goes away. If not, there are some all natural baby products for teething, potting, colic, and I believe even some stuff for noses. "Stuffy noses" is another brand of saline drops that get put in the noses that breaks up the congestion in his nasal cavity. One more thing that might be causing it is if your house/room might have dry air at night and it might only take a humidifier to be plugged in at night next to him. Even a little infant vapor rub. I hope all this helps. I remember my first child, now I have three boys and pretty much have had to deal with everything that can be thrown at you.
