My son is 5 months old and we are giving him about 6 bottles a day 6 oz bottles..and then also half of a container of gerber first foods fruit for lunch and the rest for supper...he refuses to eat the rice cereal by mouth although he has had it through his bottle since about 2 months of age due to acid reflux...The past week now he has been getting up in the middle of the night ? So I am curious what other mothers suggest about feeding and such maybe his tummy is not full enough please help

My sisters son wouldnt eat the rice cereal either so she tried the oatmeal and he looked like a snapping turtle eating it you couldnt get it in his mouth fast enough. lol Try giving him a little more of the baby food. My daughter eats about 6 6oz bottles a day and oatmeal twice and starting today I will be replacing one of the oatmeal feedings with baby food. Also try some veggies but since you started with friut it may take him a few tries to eat it because its going to tast bitter after eating the fruit.

my suggestion with this issue is to give him a bottle before he goes to sleep with cereal in it. it will keep his tummy full for a longer period of time. other then that you are doing just fine with the feeding. try to retain how much he naps during the day. allow hime an hour or so two to three times a day and he could poosibly sleep better at night.

At that age my daughter usually got 2 8 oz. bottles, 2 or 3 6 oz. bottles and half a container of veggies. You could try giving him an 8 oz. bottle before bed and maybe even add a little bit of cereal to it if he's already used to having it in the bottle.

Feeding babies solids doesn't make them sleep longer. That's a myth. From what you describe, it sounds like he's getting more than enough, anyway. At 5 months, night wakings are more likely related to teething or separation anxiety. Even babies who previously slept through the night, often start having troubles around 6-9 months. He'll likely start sleeping through again shortly anyway, but I'd say having a consistent bedtime routine is a lot more important than what he eats.

Hello. Well to me it sounds like he is getting more than enough. The getting up in the middle of the night could be gas, teething pains, or he just isn't tired. Maybe you are giving him too long or too late of naps during the day. My kids did the same thing. You just have to entertain him and make him real busy so he can burn his energy to sleep better at night. If he wakes in the night and you feed him he will get used to that then wake up to eat rather he is hungry or not. That is not good and I'm sure you don't want that to happen. The rice in the bottle is good but don't put to much. It is however a little too early to start the jar foods. That can cause allergies later on in life for starting too early with solids.
