Am I The Only One Enjoying Watching My Kids Grow Up?

I guess I'm weird, but I really enjoy watching my children develop into indepedent people. I loved their cooing, drooling and first-everything years.

However, I am extremely intrigued by the individual personalities that they are developing, their independence, their unique interests, etc.

I just find that the older they get, the more I "like" them as people, not just my children. Who knows? Maybe I'm just being selfish and want them the heck out...lol!

I know what you mean, I have two boys, one is 5 and one just turned 1. Its awesome to see how their personalities are similar and different. I love it that my 5 year old is his own little person, with his own personality, tastes, and interests.

Yes, they become people VERY quickly!  When they develop an interest, you find yourself wondering how did they know about this or that?  Amazing...truly amazing.

I know how you feel. I think it's neat too. Though there are those days I just want to pull out my hair and scream. haha. Every mom has those days though eventually.
I have 3 kids... 8 yr old girl, 4 yr old boy, and 22 month old girl with one more due in 5 days. It's even neat watching them interact with each other and learn coping methods for dealing with siblings. Not always quietly either. haha. I'm confident though that my kids are on the right path and are growing up to be great people. Though I'm biased.. I am their mom. =)

Congrats on the newest edition to be!

You have the right to be biased and I agree, their interaction with one another can be PAINFUL, but quite intriguing.

My prayers are with you and your family as you approach your delivery.

All the best!

No it's interesting watching them grow and develope. Especally since my twins were six weeks early it's amazing to see how far they came since they were born, and it's really interesting to see them develope as individuals.

Exactly...I'm not weird, phew!

Amie, Hi!!!!! Had to laugh when I saw that your oldest was in a head lock by her younger bro~~ That's great!!!! Have to admit that I "kicked" my husband out with the boys so that I could get stuff done!!!! And then I go and spend more than half of my time on COM!!!! Simone, how do you pronounce your name?

Yup, those are my goobers!

The PC is addicitive - dangerous stuff.  Info overload for sure.

The French pronunciation is "see-moan", but most people pronounce it "si (as in sit)-moan" or "suh-moan".  As long as no one calls me Simon (like the guy from American Idol), it's fine by me.

That's great that you are able to enjoy each step!!!! I have to admit that I get upset if my boys aren't doing what I think they should be doing, but then I am reminded that they will be grown up all to soon. I don't believe we should coddle and do everything for them, but I do expect them to do for themselves what they can do for themselves!!!! Motherhood is often the most taken for granted job and occupation in the world. I tell my husband often that if I was to be paid for all of services rendered, he would not be able to afford me!!!!!
BTW, how many children do you have, and what are their ages? I have two boys- Seth will be 4 in Sept. and Donovan will be 3 in Dec.

Hi Cheryl,

I so agree, my husband would be BROKE!  (Smile)

I have two children, Dominique - she just turned 12 in Jan and Cameron who will be 4 in April.

I have no idea why, but the name Donovan has come up 3 times in the past few weeks.  I mentioned that I loved that name one time and since then, I keep hearing it.  Both Seth and Donovan are great names, but something about Donovan just appeals to me.

Thanks for the reply!

I love seeing how much Josh changes from day to day! I think its amazing how one day he cant do something, then the next day he does it, and he knows that he did something good! I also think its amazing how at this young of an age, he is already developing characteristics of a little boy (playing with trucks, interest in balls, playing very rough, watching football, etc.). I can honestly say that he is my best friend, and he's the reason I get up every morning!

Hi Cheryl,
I know what you mean. I like coming and checking out CoM throughout the day. There's some good conversations that I like to follow. Some I don't comment on at all and some that I can help with. Mostly though it's my 5 minute go away mommy needs a few time. LOL! At the moment mine are in the living room tearing it apart. Nice... little tornadoes the lot of them. haha. Ah crap and their they go... our boy has our oldest in a headlock. LMAO! Kids!
Oh and a quick note... I've learned every mom feels the way I do at one point or another. Just nice to hear/see it sometimes when things become overwhelming. =)

Congrats!!! I totally understand about the coping skills being learned!!! I must admit, I am already addicted to Circle of Moms!!!!! LOL It is so nice to know that I truly am not alone with my feelings. Don't get me wrong, my husband is a great help, but he just can't relate to everything!!!!!
