I have started a day home, and I want to feed the kids who are 1 and- 1.5 -and 2 and I want to feed them healthy foods for lunch, Does anyone have any suggestions for this age groups and what I can feed them, what they will actually eat. It is only my first day with them and they had a turkey cheese sandwhich and no one wanted to eat it.. :O(
Here are some things I have. But i would like a bigger selection if anyone can help with some.
rice with peas and carrots and milk, grilled cheese sandwhichs with a veggie or fruit, fish sticks with veggies or fruit, cheese and/or balogna sandwhichs. jelly sandwhichs(no peanut butter yet), soups (chicken, lentile and so on), pastas with meat sauce. . and milk with everything. . Any other ideas please??
Thanks,

My daughter loves marmite sandwiches, also rice crackers or wheels. There maybe some-things the children won't eat because of the texture. I know my daughter doesn't like banana, kiwifruit and jelly. Home made yoghurt or avocado sandwiches is two more ideas. Good luck

yah, well obvioulsy asking the parents was the first thing I did!!??!! the one boy only seems to like things from dad...even when my fiance gave him something he ate it..but not from me..the same thing LOL. . so it is what it is..I will provide the food - with everything I have, and they willl choose if they want to eat it or not. !!

ask the parents what they give their children to eat? but lots of finger foods sounds like a good idea

Keep trying...sometimes you need to offer a new food up to 11 times until the kids actually try it. How bout applesauce? There's a great cookbook written by Jerry Seinfeld's wife called "The Sneaky Chef" that is geared toward this. It is really cheap. You can probably find it at the scholastic website.

lol thanks, I wont be frying anything for the kids - I have to feed my own child and i would NEVER feed him something fried, so I def wont be feeding other children that.
Thanks for the suggestions. :)

Homemade soft tacos, spaghetti, chicken and cheese enchiladas (they're super easy to make, I promise.)

Goulash: which is basically noodles, sauce, meat and veggies in a huge skillet. It's a homemade hamburger helper. http://beefgoulashrecipes.blogspot.com/

Just dont give them anything fried, or that came from a box.

Potatoe wedges! Cut up potatoes, with skins on, season them, put em on a cookie sheet and raost them in overn at 400 degrees for about 20-30 minutes. Kids love these. Make them with all sorts of potatoes, even sweet potatoes.

My son is almost 1 1/2 and he has loved baked sweet potato wedges since he could chew them. I make a dipper with sour cream and maple syrup and he loves it. We do a lot of Grilled Cheese sandwicheds, w/ turkey or ham, sometiems with bacon & tomato.

Kid friendly quesadillas are easy to make. Creamy soups, like Broccoli Cheese, always go over great.

My kids are 20 months and 3 1/2 and my oldest has only in the last month started eating sandwiches, the other won't touch them. I think a lot of kids must not like the sandwiches at this age.

Today for lunch we had homemade chicken nuggets, peas, and
apple slices.

Other favorites are tuna (we don't do the mayo because my kids like it w/o but either way), some steamed veggies and fruit. pasta salad with grilled chicken strips, pasta with a bit of sauce (I make my own sauce and puree veggies into it), quesedillas (cheese with beans usually). During the summer a lot of our meals are fresh veggies from the Farmers Market so things like hard boiled eggs, tomato slices and fruit. Roasted veggies with rice. And sometimes we have kind of snack foods for lunches. Hummus and veggies, sliced cheese, fruit salad etc.
