My baby has diereah (Dont know how to spell that, but if you dont get it I mean the sh*ts) and a very sore bottom. He is 8 months old. I checked him at about 10:00am and he had a 98.6 diggree temperature. I gave him some Tylenol. I dont know what more to do for him. He is in so much pain when I change his dipper. Any ideas of what I can do to make him feel better?

make sure he is hydrated, plenty of cooled boiled water as babies can become dehydrated very quickly also depending on how bad the diarrohea is! use some sudacrem for his bottom apply it after every nappy change and try some calpol sugar free! if the diarrohea is severe or you worried go and see your doctor!

letting him go diaper-less will help dry the sore out. Also if you use the cream lay it on thick don't rub it in completely his bottom should be white from it, that's what i do for my daughter and it usually starts to help that day.

I[d stop giving him milk for a while and give him pedialyte. It will keep him from becoming dehydrated. Milk may be too heavy for now. Also use baby powder enriched with vitamin e and aloe vera instead of cream when every he gets diaper rashes.Creams burn and only irritate diaper rash. The powder will dry up the rash and whisk away the moisture which is what worsens rash. 98 is not a fever. It's actually .2 degrees higher than normal for a baby. 100 is considered fever for babies, but low grade. If you are in hot climate, I would just stick with powder, because his backside will get sweaty and the powder will keep him dry. Make sure you change him frequently and not allow him to remain wet. Powder is always better than cream. I rarely use it.

me personally, i use hemeroid cream on my children when they get really bad rashes. then again, they're all 3 or older and i use it on my nephew who is 1 1/2 when he gets really constipated. hope this helps.

hydration is key. if you are breastfeeding let him nurse as often as he wants (breast milk will NOT make diarrhea worse the same way formula can) if you are formula feeding give him some kind of an electrolyte solution to prevent dehydration. if you have started him on solids and there is no sign of infection stop all fruits and juices except for applesauce and bananas (see BRATT diet above with addition of second T for tea) do not give him any medications to stop the diarrhea unless directed to do so by your pediatrician. I would check his diaper at least every 30 minutes to 1 hour while he is awake to make sure he is as clean and dry as possible. Feces and urine tend to be acidic so when left on the skin they can cause irritation and decubidous ulcers. It can get so bad it causes bleeding which can lead to infection if feces gets into it. I would use one of the barrier creams that they sell in the grocery store. my favorite is desatin original, but everyone has their own preference. I would not however apply flour or any other food product as that could help yeast grow and breed which is no good if diaper rash already exists you may just end up "feeding" it. Hope your little one feels better soon. Watch for greying skin and dry cracking lips ect. these are signs of dehydration and need quick attention. best of luck!

you can also follow a BRAT diet - bananas, rice cereal, applesauce, and toast. This food may help with the bowels.

to help with the but, give a nice cool bath, then let your child run around for a little bit with out a diaper on to air out. Also, there are some creams you can put on the butt to help.

instead of milk make sure ur giving him pedialyte to keep him hydrated....don't freak out if he doesn't have an appetite because he may not, just keep him hydrated. milk will make it worse so please give him the pedialyte.....keep his area as clean as possible with a washcloth and warm water, no soap....if there's no diaper rash yet make sure u rub vaseline down there as a barrier to keep it protected(and after a diaper rash clears up continue to use it for a couple days just to be on the safe side).....if there is a diaper rash (might sound crazy but it works..ole school remedy) brown some flour in the oven, let it cool off then sprinkle it down there, works better than any diaper rash creme! keep alternating with the tylenol for pain so it won't be that bad when u change his diaper. and if u think he won't poop as soon as u change him, let his bottom air out for a couple minutes before u put the diaper back on. good luck!!
